Time and Date::Mid December, in the late afternoon Weather:: Soft fall of Snow, uncommon drift of cool wind and the occasional beam of sun shining for the last time of the day Previous Threads?::N/A
It was a bit chilly in this evening of December as the two pair set out to look for wood supply in the village; part of Scout's future plans to build a boat. She seemed to have no material what so ever but the idea of where and how to get it. Walking off near the Lumber Vikings house it didn't seem all that active. Borea sat in the cold snow happy as can be while Scout was a bit impatient for the Lumberer to return. "He's probably where everyone else is right now; eating dinner in the 'Great Hall'" Borea claimed as she nipped at some stuck together down on her arms that had been bugging her all day; eating honey was her favorite thing..but getting it stuck to the feathery sleek coat of her legs and chest was unpleasant.
"Why does everyone go there for meals? Why not eat outside and enjoy fresh air with food in front of you..be more active people!" She shouts into the sky dramatically with her fists clenched, making Borea chuckle in a Dragon huff and continue to preen her sticky feather down.
~Moving out of the Great Hall Ylva tried her hardest not to drop any of her food or drink, for it would seem a little follower has decided it wanted food as well. Ruff...to be precise has been bouncing up and down for a morsel off her plate, or to take a drink from it from her cup. "Will you hold your horses Ruff....we need to find the right location to have our supper" Ylva replied getting a tad impatient with the little animal.
It's not like she wouldn't share, of course, not....any animal, whether dog, sheep, cat, or dragon which needed food, shelter, healing, or just their body's scratched, would be helped by Ylva. She loved giving comfort to anyone, animal or human. "Let's try the forest Ruff" and slowly made her way toward's the woods.
Now, you would think any Viking would want to eat with other Viking's in the Great Hall...but not Ylva, no she was different. Ylva didn't really match up to other Viking's....she didn't really fit in you guess. But here she was walking deeper and deeper..until she heard a voice.....and then what sounded like animal....perhaps a dragon. Placing the food and drink on the ground, she motion Ruff to stay put, and no eating the food. Grabbing her small dagger, Ylva secretly snuck up behind some bushes to see who or what was there.
Borea shook her head to the overly dramatic posed Scout, "Maybe if you learn to get to know a few of them and..oh I don't know..follow th-" Scout's dead stare cut Borea's sentence short with a huff as she knew Scout wouldn't want to hear any more. "I don't follow rules; never have never will. Never did as a Child." "Because you were a stubborn young Viking girl testing your limits.."
Scout sat in a huff on the ground, not caring if the snow was cold. "Yes I was stubborn..but I also had the Freedom to do as I pleased as long as it didn't violate 'banishment rules' of Berk. I never followed rules cause I wanted to create my own life in a new sort of way..People still think I'm crazy for chasing Thunder and Storms...But I have the Freedom to do so!" She looked at Borea who was looking back with those big red eyes of hers with concern..but to the few feet Scout could see the rustle of bushes. Alerting Borea she knew would be catistrophic as scaring an Ice dragon was never a good thing..so whoever watched was given that privilege.
"Don't tell me to follow anyone’s rules Borealis..I'm my own person and should have any privelige to do as i please as long as it's not deadly. Plus, what's so harmful of a few Pranks here and there. " She stands and points her finger to her partner. "And I only do it to other pranksters more so than the whole Village, someone's gotta put those troublesome VIT's in their place every now and then." Borea gruffed lowly, puffing out a large cloud of frost at Scout's face in disagreement, but there was no argument; some of them were rash and destructive, cared not but themselves..but at least there were 'some' good ones.
Moving more and more closer Ylva turned her head sideway's, as a way to listen more better. The voice, human one....sounded like someone from the village.....what was her name Sniff? No that's not it....Scut....no....oh Scout! Yeah that was it....the storm chaser. What the heck would she be doing way out here, until Ylva's eyes move towards the left and saw the lumberer's house. Still seemed a bit strange, and made a clearing of the throat voice.
"Your dragon there.....it would not hurt me will it?" she asked softly moving her dagger back to it's holster...atleast for now. Never to sure with other's, atleast that was someone's motto, Ylva thought. Motioning to Ruff to move a bit closer, she looked down to see his mouth covered in sauce....dinner! "RUFF! You ate our supper!!!!" she screamed the dog rushing out of the bushes....and Ylva chasing after him. "Stupid mutt.....I wanted some of it too you know" she replied taking the dog and pulling out a washcloth she started to remove the sauce off of his mouth.
"Did you leave me anything?" she asked giving him some look of anger/questioning, hoping she was in for good news.
Scout quickly eyed the younger Viking girl coming from the bushes with a dagger in her palm as if she were going to attack; luckily Scout didn't jump to the conclusion and seen her put it away as she called out almost as soft as the falling snow, "Your dragon there.....it would not hurt me will it?"
Borea turned her big head and made a large but relatively light puff of frost toward the younger Viking. Scout walked over so they wouldn't have to shout, "No..she wouldn't hurt a fly unless it was bigger than her and wanted to eat he-" earning a smack to her head from the long paddle like tail that Borea had, she sort of got what was expected. "Well..anyone but me anyway.." she rubbed the back of her head as it got a bit sore.
After that a dog rushed out of the bushes with food stuck to it's chin; obviously eating what the young Viking had gotten from the great hall. Scout couldn't help but chuckle a bit as she chased the dog around and whipped off it's chin. "Hey..if he ate it all I'm sure Borea can get him to barf it back up for ya." She grinned, not her usual menacing grin but a more joking one and it softened as she suggested another option, "Or I can fix you up something at my house..without dog fur getting on your tongue."
~Keeping her eyes peeled on her dog Ruff, Ylva then glanced over towards the other Viking, whom seemed to have tried and make a joke about her dragon. "I see" was all she replied while getting up. Then came the offer for free food, prepared at her own house, something only a few viking's have ever offered Ylva.
Making a mental note to try and pick higher places to place her food and drink next time, she turned her head toward's the lumber's house. "But aren't you waiting for the lumberer?" "It would seem kinda of foolish, to leave if he decides to come back soon" It's not like she was stalling or anything....it's just Ylva alway's tried to make everyone happy.
Ruff, whom seemed to take note of the ice dragon slowly bent down on all four's and slither over to the dragon. Ruff, whom was already use to dragon's, told herself...not to make this one angry, or all hell could break loose....BIG TIME. "Ruff careful" wwas already used even without glancing over at her dog. She knew Ruff wouldn't do anything to the dragon, whom she learned was named Borea....in her mind it being a strange name at that.
Scout shrugged her shoulders as she still continued to rub her sore spot on her head, "Eh. It's not like he's gonna die any time soon or get captured. I'll come another day when I know he's home for sure, cause you look rather hungry Ms..uh. What's your name?" She put her hands to her hips in a way to keep them busy; standing still was never something Scout did and it was starting to become to much for her.
As for Borea; she were more interested in the slowly slinking canine coming close to her. her big head coming down slowly to the ground, chin buried in the snow as she lay on her belly to at least try and be level with the dog. Trying to make her breath of frost less heavy so the dog wouldn't get to cold when they introduced eachother. Being big didn't mean she couldn't befriend those smaller than herself; and meeting one of the furry companions in Berk was a new and interesting experience to her.
"Well? Do I have a 'Yes Ma'am'?" Scout said as she awaited for the other to reply; the cold starting to get to her as she shivered a bit under her layers of clothing..which should of kept her warm even in these types of climates.
"First off, my name is Ylva Thorgeir, and secondly I don't Ma'am anyone....not even my own mother" replied Ylva resting her hand's upon her hips as showing she could be dominating to her as well. "Thirdly, what exactly would you cook for me?" keeping one eye on the stranger the other on her dog.
Ruff....moving a tad bit closer slithered around Borea and was trying to wiggle it's body under to sniff Borea's butt....thinking that's what's all dragon's do as well. When she couldn't do so, Ruff made it's way back to Borea's face and with a little shake of it's fur, as to remove any snow, sniffed it's face....before licking the side of the dragon's face. Ruff then stopped and lowered it's head once more as if showing respect for such a beautiful creature such as Borea.
"By the way, what is your name...I have seen you around the village.....I believe your the one who chases Storms am I correct?" she asked the young warrior. Ylva knew this to be true, for many of the people speak of her, the crazy person who try's to find storm's in the oddest hours. But who was Ylva to speak of, for many year's people spoke of how odd it was to speak to sheep as she did.
Scout was taken aback from her trying to be proper being taken as an insult; maybe this younger Viking was like her in a way, not taking much of anyone’s crap unless it was of care or importance. "I only meant Ma'am in a proper way..not something I'm known for, if you'd rather have the snarky, trickster half of me so be it."
Borea huffed toward Scout's way as if to signal her to behave and make nice; the older Viking was notorious for making enemies but Borea sensed these two different than the ones they've encountered in the village. Borea turned her gaze back to the dog who was showing her submissive respect; expected from something smaller than her, Borea drew out her tongue to lick the dogs shoulder in a friendly way.
Scout huffed to start over again, "Yes..I'm Scout Marcein. Or as the others call me; Storm-Chaser or foolish lightening lover." The last one she made up in her own cover of fear from Lightening, but that was of no concern now. "If you've heard of me then you must know a lot of the negative. 'Oh she's nothing but Trouble' or 'She's gonna kill herself one day!'" She humphed at the end as if to deter what the past remarks said about her; she didn't care, she just wished someone would actually see she wasn't really all foolish, tricky and only wanted games.
Ylva chuckled abit at the older girl's response to her own title but then shrugged. "For what it's worth, I don't think of you that way" "I mean I know I have just met you and all, but I think your pretty awesome, as well as your dragon over there"
Pointing over Ruff was jumping up and down in front of Borea, so excited she made a new friend and it was with a very large dragon! This one could probably take down large ship's if it wanted too....but Ruff knew Borea wouldn't, for she was a good dragon, hopefully.
"As for the dinner, sure I love to have someone cook dinner for me....let me just go tell my parent's about this, and I will meet you back at the village Scout, if I may be so bold to call you that" she giggled and then picked up Ruff shaking her off lightly. "Say good bye Ruff" Ruff whom was a bit sadden, whimpered and then barked as if saying good-bye to her newest friend.
"I promise you'll see her again, my little mutt" Ylva then walked back to the village, towards the great hall, but not before grabbing her plate and cup.
Scout watched as Ylva and Ruff began to walk back to the village, Borea coming next to her as they both watched. Borea nudged Scout's shoulder gently but enough to snap Scout out of trance, "Cmon..dinner remember. No need to be a bad host to new friends you now have." She growled happily deep in her chest. Scout rolled her eyes and mounted her partners smelly fish-stench saddle as they set out to their house. It was a bit closer to the fishing and boating docks as Borea, being a water dragon, was very keen on swimming at least everyday.
Returning home and dismounting the smelly saddle from Borealis's back, Scout made her way into their house; which was more tidy than usual. She never visited home unless she needed food instead of hunting for it or if her Father wanted to speak to her. Her father had already made his way to the great hall; so having to cook would be less of a hassle for Scout without her father looking over her shoulder or asking a million questions about what she's been up to.
What was prepared was fairly still fresh from yesterday’s catch. Two smoked Halibut with smashed potatoes and slices of mutton; Scout and her father were big meat eaters, not to keen on the...'green stuff'. As she cooked, Scout undressed herself to ease the stress of the day from her shoulders. Staying in her light shirt and shorts that she had in a pile in a small closet-chest. She yawned a bit; the day was coming to an end yet why was she so tired? She barely did anything to take away her own energy. Borea stayed outside, as she was to large to fit in the house; sitting on her haunches like a lion would and closing her eyes momentarily.
Making her way through the inside of the great hall Ylva finally found her mother and father talking quite loudly with other friend's of theirs. Poking her mother in the left shoulder she whispered in her ear what she planned on doing for awhile, and to which she asked for her parent's to watch Ruff while she was gone. "Why not take Ruff with you?" asked her mother slightly confused. "He won't listen to me or your father, you know that....he only listen's to those whom he truly bond's with" her mother replied before turning her head back to only laugh as someone fell out of their seat.
Shrugging Ylva placed Ruff down and came out of the great hall, making a mental note to say the same thing if her parent's ask her to clean up their horses manure. "Alright, your coming with me, but there will be no stealing food or drink, or rough housing over there....understand?" she looked down at the little dog....whom seem to understand by nodding it's head quickly.
Following the path the Scout's house, Ylva saw Borea sitting outside and merely smiled waving to the dragon as Ruff ran right over to Borea bouncing up and down. "I guess your staying out here" and with that Ylva knocked on the door, and quickly fixed her outfit alittle.
Scout heard the light knock on the door and rushed to open it; seeing her guest and the dog bouncing around Borea's head. "Welcome. I hope you like what I've made.." she said as polite as she could; it wasn't something she was so used too. She opened the door wider and beckoned her to come in.
Borea peeked her eyes open to see her new friend and grinned; making a loud motor like purr in her chest as she gently lifted her head; her fascination for the fuzzy creature could continue. Scout had already gotten the table ready and she had just poured their drinks as she delivered it to Ylva's side of the table. "So did your dog have a good decent meal or is she still hungry to steal?" she chuckled a bit as she sat down on her side; thankful that she had the house to herself for now; or else her father would make this whole dinner hour a bit strange for the both of them..especially Scout feeling a bit insecure about what he would say or even ask. Scout bit into a chunk of her Halibut from the tail end.
~Ylva nodding said "Thank you, I am sure I will enjoy anything.....for it seem's my other meal was stolen from me" as she chuckled glancing over at Ruff bouncing around with Borea. Taking a step inside, Ylva noticed that they were alone for dinner...probably Scout's parent's are at the great hall. "So..." she said sitting down looking down at the plate......it being Halibut! "Oh my! Is this halibut?" she asked pointing down at the plate of food.
Ruff whom took no notice of his owner left him outside, kept bouncing up and down until his ear's perked up to hear the sound of someone coming along the trail, but it being just another Viking heading home for the day, she quickly rested her ear's and then came to a small snow bound decided it would be fun to jump inside of it. She buried deep into the snow pile, being use to playing hide and seek with Ylva was trying to get Borea to do the same with her, and whimpered alittle, as if saying 'find me'. Which wouldn't really be hard to do, since Ruff didn't really bother to hide the other half of her body.
Scout smirked a little as the girl seemed to be in thrilled with what was prepared; it was nothing special, just the fish she'd rather have since she knew she'd be scolded if she cooked anything else cause her father did all the fishing and was very particular.
Borea watched her new fuzzy friend bury half way into the snow pile she made with her breath and large paws. She tilted her head to the canine's funny games and sniffed the pile lightly. Knowing only the lower half was visible at the moment but she wanted to at least give her friend courage that she was hiding well enough. she'd give a few more minutes before she'd actually tap her friends tail with her nose. not looking above at the sky as a slow breeze picks up and dark clouds start to roll in and the light fall of snow lightly drops from th heavens.
"So it seems as if you do like fish! Were sure to be good friends since my Dad is one of the fishermen..well just have to sneak a few so he won't notice." She chuckled as she bit into the slices of mutton. "So, do you have a dragon?"
