Nima took a moment to nuzzle against her human, inhaling all the scents to try and detect her emotions. However it was of little use; despite knowing a lot about human nature, she still couldn't figure out how these things called emotions worked with them. For dragons it was very simple, and instinctively motivated; if something was scary, you growled and defended yourself, if something was sad you comforted those nearest to you, and so on and so on. What made the dragon even more confused was how two humans interacted with each other. Sudden squawks and screams in their tonngue were common, as was this weird thing they did when they radiated sadness. Rather then comfort anyone, they had this weird ability to create water, and in doing so seemed hysterical with screaming and fits, much like an unruly hatchling.
Nima had just been mulling these facts over when Crystals words pulled her from her thoughts rather abruptly. At her words of her humans constant questioning, the dragon felt a pang of sadness, and nuzzled her human for comfort. It would be quite nice to have any conversation with my human, even if it was all useless questioning. She turned to the dragon, saying softly. You are quite lucky, you know. Just then she noticed a weird emotion from her human and remembered what she had been thinking, and mentioned the humans weird behaviors. This seemed to prompt a question from the scauldron, and it made the nadder question the age of the beast. Tilting her head at the thought, she said quietly. Well... since I can understand her tongue but she can't understand mine, I have to make sure to be extra loving towards her, you know, like a mother would with her hatchling. It's quite similar really, to having a hatchling. Just like a hatchling, she can't understand me yet, so I must take extra care in expressing my love for her, and making sure she feels safe and secure. You know, make her know that I care. She looked down to her human fondly, nuzzling against her. Fern in response patted her nose, leaning against her. You see, even the subtlest responses to her emotions are key in showing that I am here for her. It might make our bond stronger, you know... It makes us work harder to be that much more understanding of the other.
Fern, meanwhile, was thinking of Jokul, her emotions not going un-noticed by Nima, who nuzzled against her lovingly. Fern patted her nose, and gave into leaning against her, knowing somehow the dragon could support her weight; she was a dragon after all, and likely much more powerful then a human, or so Fern could only figure. Just then Fern blurted out the question of whether Spitnose liked someone or not, and as the moments ticked by she felt a slight tension rise in the air. Nima seemed to perk up, readjusting beneath her weight to peer up at her curiously, yet Fern didn't notice this at the moment.
Spit's reply was a question, followed by moments of silence.. and then... laughter? Why on earth was she laughing? It was a question that seemed to ring in both the dragon and the girls mind. When Spitnose came back with an awkward question, Fern shuffled her feet, looking down as she bit her lip. She hadn't expected Spitnose to respond with a question of her own, and it caught her rather off guard. Nonetheless, Fern responded however awkwardly, "Um, no reason... I just, erm... was curious.. Yeah, I was curious!" That answer seemed to work best, or so Fern figured. She looked down, fingers fidgeting, as she realized Spit might actually have a crush on someone, and maybe that someone was Jokul! She had to know, but how to get it out of her? Hesitating but a moment, Fern danced around directly answering why she had asked herself, instead posing a question of her own, "Say you do have a crush on someone... Figuratively, of course.... It wouldn't happen to be, I dunno, say, Jokul... would it?"
