Time and Date:: October, afternoon
Weather:: cold, windy, no rain
Previous Threads?:: Occupational Hazard is going on while this happens
Upon hearing the commotion outside, Luna went to the window and peeked out. She couldn't see much over the buildings other than a few flashes of a black dragon's body. Curious, she ran up the stairs and looked out the bedroom window, which had a better vantage point.
Down by Ari's house, she saw Hermes, Sven's dragon. The dragon was raging at a group of surrounding vikings, who seemed to be trying to catch and harness her. Luna knew that Berkians were capable of subduing angry dragons- it wasn't an uncommon practice. They distracted them and harnessed them before leading them to the training arena until they became calm enough to release. Usually, she stayed out of it, she had talent with dragons, but strength was something needed to catch a rampaging dragon. However, Luna knew Hermes, and she knew that she would overpower the crowding villagers at any cost and rip them to shreds- she was an unusually hostile dragon- and especially to strangers, but she wasn't a stranger. Luna realized she needed to step in- it might prevent the others from being injured.
Luna ran quickly down the steps and out the door. She sprinted toward the shaman's house and was there quickly. The crowd around Hermes was growing, as the dragon's temper heated up. Luna elbowed her way to the front of the crowd, finding someone with a harness. She snatched it from him without asking, but he let her have it when he noticed that it was the dragon healer. Someone hauled forward a bucket of water and splashed it in Hermes' eyes. With so many people trying to help, things were getting out of hand. She stepped toward the dragon and shouted to the crowd, "Step back and let me handle this!" The volume didn't go down much, but at least some of the chaos ended, hopefully everyone would keep back. She was going to try something, and if Hermes was startled while she did, things might not go well.
Hermes' head was lowered close to the ground as she tried to clear her eyes of the cold water. Luna approached her, and took a firm hold on both sides of the thick bone that formed the back of her jaw, pressing the dragon's face against her torso. It was a position she often took with dragons, because it gave her control, but allowed the dragon to smell her. As long as she didn't try to bite or throw her, Luna would be fine. Hopefully Hermes would pick up on her scent and remember that she was a friend. She struggled, so Luna dropped her weight, falling to her knees, still holding the dragon as tightly as she could without causing her pain. Pain would make her panic even more. Now that she was near the ground, Luna dropped the harness she had in her hands, letting it fall between her knees, where she could still access it quickly.
She could feel the dragon's heavy breathing as her nostrils flared hot air at her stomach and the front of Luna's shirt was covered in water from Hermes' wet head. "It's just me, Hermes...what's wrong?" she soothed, hoping the Ambassador would acknowledge her. The dragon healer tried to keep herself calm, trying to empathize the feeling to the dragon.
