OVERALL PERSONALITY: Sigrun has a very down to business attitude. Get it done, quickly and efficiently or else you are just wasting time. And if there's anything she hates, it's wasting time. The more effort you put into a task the more results you will likely get out, and she's always looking for the results. Most of her scars are results of her trying to rush a job.
But when it comes to trading, she seems to take a complete turn. But perhaps not all the way around. She is helpful, trying to find the perfect item for some one, but also suggesting things that might fetch her a higher yield. She still thinks wasting time is a pain, and will rush people a long if they stay undecided for too long. She always uses a cheerful tone, and friendly demeanor, and any who trade with her would never suspect her rough personality outside of work.
Most people who meet her when she is doing other things, get a very blunt treatment. Do what you have to, and get out. Very few people get to see the small, almost friendly side of her.
Strangely enough, the only ones who see this are the ones who wish they had never met her. The dragons. If she wasn't in the business of trapping them she could easily form a bond with a dragon. But she never saw a purpose to bonding with beasts. She sees them as nothing more than livestock, and treats them as such. And what's wrong with letting yourself have a bit of fun around the animals? It's almost creepy in a way, how she can lock them up, with chains and muzzles and yet still be so cheery about it. Even to the point where when she is working with her wares she will hum a tune. Nothing says productivity like molding dragon skin to a bubbly song.
Even she isn't sure which side is her true personality any more, the layers have grown to high for her to remember. She tends to block out the younger years of her life, in which she had stayed true to herself.
EYE COLOUR: A light, almost orange, shade of brown. Darker brown around pupils
HAIR COLOUR: Dark brown, with lighter roots.
SKIN TONE: Once a pale yellowish tone, since her skin has gotten permanently browned from dirt and ash.
HEIGHT: 5'1" (155cm)
WEIGHT: 134lbs (60.7kg)
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: She might have been considered a gorgeous woman at one point, but from years of work her skin has taken a permanent stain, brown and black accents marring her bare skin. Her face seems be in a constant scowl, if not a look of utter disgust. Her long brown hair his tied off into three braids, which in turn are braided together.
Most of her scars are on her arms or hands, those being the only fully exposed parts of her outside her face. Her hands are rough, and the skin has become thicker from wear and tear. There are several scorch marks, and claw gouges, leaving almost none of her arm unmarked.
Her build overall is thick, but not to the extent of some others. She still has a bit of a shapely figure remaining behind the build up of muscles. She doesn't care much for it, but manages to maintain it simply through her everyday life.
Sigrun has multiple parts to her outfit, making it rather complex.
The main clothes are a simple wool shirt, and long dark pants. Over the shirt she wears a dark skin vest with a wide fur collar. Hanging on either side of the collar, are two metal loops. Over the pants she has a dragon skin skirt, made from the thick underbelly scales of a Monstrous Nightmare. The skirt is held up by a thick spiked belt. Her boots are fairly simple, dark brown with tan fur trim. They are held tight with simple iron buckles, and end just below her knees.
On top of that, is where she gets a little fancy. She wears a cape, that isn't actually much of a cape. More a like one of those fancy dead animal rugs, except made from a Monstrous Nightmare. Attaching under the fur collar, it contains a portion the wings of the beast. The shortened fingers stretch out from the middle of her back, fashioned into a sort of small not functional glider. Where there was once bone, she had thin metal rods made for her so they are light, but still give the impression of her having wings.
And when she wants for an impressive display, she has made hand holds into them so that she may spread the fingers apart and fan them out similar to the original wings they came from. Went not in her hands, they clip into the metal loops under the front of her collar.
Her helm is overall nothing exciting, but it sports the last several of inches from monstrous nightmare horns.
All of the dragon apparel she wears she made or gathered the parts for herself, from a young dragon she took down.
She always carries her daggers made from Nightmare claws somewhere on her person, usually tucked neatly in her skirt.
PLACE OF BIRTH: Hysteria
HISTORY: Sigruns life had always perched on the edge of things, and it didn't simply start at a young age. It began with her birth. Her mother had been terribly ill while pregnant, some of this likely transferred over as many things often do. But what no one expected was that she was carrying twins. The sickness hit both the unborns, but as with most twins one is always weaker.
Upon birth Sigrun and her sister were both born with out complication, ill but still alive. But not long after, her sister simply stopped breathing. No one could explain it, and her parents greived. But in their grieving they blamed the baby that survived. Every one said not to, this thing was actually pretty common. But for first time parents the thought was heartbreaking and their first thoughts were to blame something. The raised her fine enough, but there wasn't the usually family bond between them.
As she got older, it didn't get better. They seemed to resent that she made it long enough to walk, and as soon as she could they had her working. Her upbringing had prepared her for it until she was seven and before she could experience any sort of proper childhood she was working with leathers and fabrics. If she messed up, despite her age they would yell so she quickly learnt that mistakes were unforgivable.
Upon reaching the age where she would have gone in to training, she instead left. The verbal abuse had been too much, and she decided she could make a better life than she could ever get here. She stole a boat, loaded with what supplies she could carry through the night. Mostly supplies she figured she could use for survival, weapons, some tools and spare clothes.
She sailed far into the night, putting the island far behind her. The first island she hit was a small one, no inhabitants and only a few dragons. She made a sort of home there, tying the boat to a tree and living in the hull of it and using the island to gather supplies. She didn't run into dragons for the first few weeks, as the reptiles were far to cautious to come near the strange thing on their island home. But the first that did, caught her off gaurd. A brightly coloured Monstrous Nightmare, rudely sticking it's snout into her boats hull.
Awoken by the intrusion, she knew it wouldn't just back down. She would have to take a stance, and all she knew was how to hunt. She scared the dragon back to the deck of the boat, banging a dagger against her shield, yelling. It backed up, but before she could completely get it off the boat a roar escaped as the beast lit itself on fire. The sail was first to catch on fire, but before anything else could she dove into the water. What she didn't know, was the dragon was young and didn't know any better. It followed her into the water, being able to swim well enough. The fire was extinguished, but it's snapping jaws were far to close for her liking. She kicked, and slashed all at the same time trying to keep it back.
In the process she slashed it's eyes, halting it's progression after her. The cries of the dragon turned from anger to agony. But in it's pain, it thrashed more and she had to avoid wings and claws. Dodging the failing creature she returned to shore, her lungs stressed from being under for far too long. The dragon soon too emerged from the water, eyelids glued shut. Now silence was her friend, and time was once again on her side.
But it did not take long, same with any animal a quick slice of the neck was all it would need. Sure they had their scales and armoured plates, but in between those was soft flesh. Finding the creatures side before it would have time to react was the true challenge, But she made it in, a few close calls from it's talons and from there the job was quick enough. A final gurgled cry from the dragon and it's body spasmed before dropping to the sandy shore.
This first dragon became her first test subject, could she use materials from it to assist her? Or at least make some really cool stuff? It took her a while but she managed to find a way to work with the dragons hide, forming some clothing for herself. She kept the horns, not knowing anything about metal working herself, but imagined they would make quite the imposing helmet. The meat however was left behind, she had no space to preserve things on her boat, and she wasn't even really sure if she wanted to eat dragon meat anyways.
Due too this incident, she was stuck on the island longer, enough to get the remains of the sail and some other fabric she had brought to make a new sail. In this time, she encountered more dragons, and vowed to learn as much about them as she could in that period of time. She ended up staying on the island long after she had fixed the sail, still learning about the dragons. She learned ways that she could not only kill them for their resources, but trap them. An entire dragon might be just as valuable as anything you could remove from it!
She spent a handful of years on this island, building up an arsenal of knowledge and supplies, remaking her sail all the while. Once prepared to leave, she set off in hopes of finding someone who would trade with her.
She continued like this for several years, living off her boat and sailing the oceans looking for trade. Eventually she obtained a map, and plotted out her routes on it. Marking island with certain kinds of dragons for future reference, and islands with villages or larger living on them.
Ten years she continued like that, until she was fairly well established. One trip however she found a quite island in the middle of supposedly nowhere. The inhabitants did not take kindly to her trade, and sent her off quite quickly. She made sure to not return to the island.
