NAME: Val Fyrbøter
AGE: 16
ORIGIN: Val's parents were Deserters and won't tell her her island of origin. She likely probably won't ever find out the truth either for she was born some months after her parents left. She has been a nomadic Viking most of her life.
OCCUPATION: Nomad, and a great helper. Val isn't overly skilled at anything, but dabbles a bit in everything.
GENDER & SEXUALITY: Female, and straight... 98% of the time.
LIKES: dergins, (that doesn't really count xD) fruit, autumn, reading writing and drawing, water, and wind
DISLIKES: physical fighting, bitter things, spiders, physical pain, people not using common sense, not getting her say in a conversation/argument/debate.
STRENGTHS: mentally strong (Iron will, etc.) very humble, easy-going and forgiving, adorable, got some brains and sass to go with it, strong sense of maturity with a dash of insanity and childishness, doesn't recall nor currently has the capacity or will power to hate any person no matter what they did.
WEAKNESSES: probably suffers from Algophobia, doesn't stop thinking ever so she clocks out often, shhhhhhhyyyyyy, not starving but is quiet literally skin and bones. (exaggeration) forgets stuff easily and probably has short term and long term memory loss.
FEARS: Pain (Algophobia, hers is to the point of near mental breakdown.) being the cause of another person's sorrow or pain, reeeeaaaallly deep water, spiders somewhat, being betrayed by people she trusts, doing new things that are strange or... new with friends, being in a relationship, marriage
AMBITIONS: wants to strengthen her artistic abilities, wants to start writing stories a lot more, figure out what the hell she wants to do with her rapidly approaching adulthood, wants to be more bold but shyness and algophobia don't really go together in a world where everything "fun" is physical and has the risk of loosing a toe.
SECRETS: She may not want to be in a relationship of marriage but a lot of the time she can see a guy and her mind will... go... places... While she seems like a kind down to earth gal who wouldn't hurt a fly she often tortures made up figures in her mind. (Were going into rated R stuff torture here)
OVERALL PERSONALITY: Val is a sweet and honest teenager. Her overall demeanor is childish and sunny when she is comfortable around trusted or loved ones. Despite this she is mature and responsible if she remembers to be, and seems to have completely skipped the rebellious, emotionally unstable teen aged stage of her life. It is pretty debatable if she acts more like an adult or child. When in embarrassing, awkward, or new situations she becomes withdrawn and shy and usually refrains from talking. Even so she walks with a constant smile either in her eyes or on her lips, and pairing that with her honest and laid back aura it isn't hard to not be threatened or even like her at first glance. That being said it is also extremely easy to look her over. She tends to think a lot, and looks at situations and people from many angles, and can be considered at times to be very wise. Val likes giving good advice when she can but doesn't mind nor bother to push people to follow it. She sets her own morals and rules and tends to follow them. That doesn't mean she doesn't have a dark side, but because she likes to be the kind peacekeeper she usually refrains from shouting out how annoying someone is in public. Val enjoys, if not loves, heart to heart bonding time, and can be a cuddle bug. She loves listening to and reading stories, as well telling them herself, whether they be her own or someone else's. She tends to enjoy younger or same aged company to appeal to her childish desires.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Val is not average in height, but isn't tall either. She stands at 5"5', with long legs and arms. She has olive colored skin that tans easily and doesn't burn easily. Her hair is soft and silky, and falls slightly past her shoulders in waves and corkscrews. Her hair isn't a dark shade of brown but isn't light either, and has natural blonde highlights and tips that usually appear from too much sunlight. Val has hazel eyes that seem to like their habit of changing between bright emerald green to deep umber then back to a combination of the two for no reason. She has a bright smile, and her front teeth are a little bit large, and the tips of her two big teeth still have the little divots they have from when they first grow in. Needless to say she still has a child's smile. She has a tiny scar on her right cheek as a result from a wild Deadly Nadder that attacked her family. On her right leg there is a seven inch scar on her thigh, a large scar that goes from the front and all the way to the back of her right hip, a scar on the front of her ankle, side of her ankle, and several pierce scars on the same ankle. She doesn't remember what happened, and her parents don't talk about it. All she knows was she was on the wrong side of an attack. Val likes keeping her developed chest area tightly wrapped at all times, and usually wears a tight fitting sleeveless shirt over that. She mostly wears leather boots and soft legging like pants, and looks younger than she should be due to her habit of wearing her father's spare shirts. They are clearly *cough* several sizes too large.
HISTORY: Val was born with into the world small and thin. It took her longer than it should have to walk, and she never walked for long due to her weak hips. None the less she knew how weak she was, and sought to do everything she could in order to get stronger, which helped somewhat. She always talked about even little things, read a lot, and thought a lot. Her periods of speaking and silence were random and drawn out. By the time she was ten she constantly wrote and drew, and had become skilled in making her own charcoal and paper. She harbors some jealousy for her younger 13 year old sister, who is much stronger than her and frankly, throws knives better than her, though in the end Val brushes the feelings aside. Up until she somehow got attacked and got her right leg mauled, Val wasn't overly cowardly towards a lot of things. After recovering Val would go into near panic attacks if she realized anything she was about to do would hurt. A lot. She lived with her loving mother, father, and sister up until... well she can't remember that either. Val can only go off her instinct which tells her she must have fallen off her father's dragon Vernon while they were moving camp sites again.
She woke up on an unknown island, on the bank of a saltwater river. The island was hot and very desert like. Staying close to the river, Val survived the next few days by sleeping the day away and getting food and water from the cactus and reeds that grew around the area and eating shellfish. Eventually, as she blindly stumbled around in the dark she suddenly felt the sand beneath her lurch up. Val knows some dragon must have thought she was a midnight snack, and so she clumsily stumbled head over heals away from the unknown dragon and hid herself in a rocky overhang. After her adrenaline wore off, she realized the dragon must of accidentally or fatefully landed a mark on her, for she was bleeding from her side. The wound wasn't deep, but it hurt, and Val of course started trembling which turned into pathetic sobs of terror, which only made the pain worse... so later she blacked out.
When she awoke, the blood thankfully had clotted, but something sticky had coated the wound. Val drew conclusions that the dragon must have found her and saved her life by cleaning the wound. Of course, Val was utterly confused. Attempting to stand up, she was met with a face full of leather. The leather quickly shifted, which turned out to be a wing. Val turned to look at a pair of iridescent silver eyes, and deep auburn colored scales before the dragon retreated into the sand, it's scales glimmering orange gently in the sun for brief moments.
Val spent the day trying to sleep, but couldn't. The dragon hadn't moved from where it had buried itself. Val soon grew hungry, and she realized the dragon, which may or may not have tried to eat her last night, was probably hungry too. Getting up, Val found the river, and after slowly gathering a good armful of shellfish, went back to the rocky overhang. She picked meat out of the shellfish, and rubbing circles into the sand, startled the dragon into raising its head. The dark, spiked head looked at her pile of food, and quick moments later Val fed the dragon. This even became somewhat of a game, where she would toss pieces of meat for the dragon to catch.
Fast foreword a few more days of this routine and Val convinced the dragon to spend the day with her under the rocky overhang. Val also found out the dragon had some sort of discoloration his hind legs and hips, where the scales were devoid of all marking and color, and were bleached white. Val, being little miss artistic, started calling the dragon Acrylic, and told him many stories of her childhood. She even picked up some Dragonese over the few weeks she spent alone with the dragon on the island, enough for Acrylic to retell tails of his childhood.
Eventually, Val was downtrodden as her family still hadn't come back for or found her. Acrylic, not liking to see Val so downtrodden, decided to fly her to the Breeding Island dragons travel to every Snoggletog. Val, of course, for a few days forgot all her worries as dragons willingly or reluctantly let the childish girl play with the newborns, and Acrylic was very pleased with himself. Since then the two have been traveling together, and Val holding onto some hope as she revisits hunting grounds and camp sites that eventually she will reunite with her own family.
FAMILY: Father- Sven Fyrbøter Mother- Siv Fyrbøter Younger Sister- Aestrid Fyrbøter <-- unintentional I swear
WEAPON OF CHOICE: Carries around a large sickle claw of some dragon she found, but she rarely uses it to attack. Mostly for utility needs. The claw is sharp and very strong. She lost her hunting knife a long time ago.
DRAGON (optional):
NAME:Acrylic
GENDER: Male
TYPE: Desert Wraith (I hope this works... they weren't mentioned, and I don't know if he's considered rare or if I can use him at all... and he's purty)
APPEARANCE: Slightly deeper/ more red than average, but not by much, just not as pink. The stripes are still dark, and his scales have an orange sheen. His eyes are iridescent and silver, and his rear legs and hips are for unknown reasons bleach white.
PERSONALITY: Loyal and protective, of course. He is strong willed and often is the one making all the brave and risky decisions for Val. He simply wants the best for his timid rider, and believes pushing her out of her comfort zone is the best way to do so. However, Val's cuddliness has rubbed off on him, and prefers that no one else knows about that sweet spot Val found beneath his head spikes. Despite that, he is childish in ways like his new companion and certainly isn't afraid to show it. After being alone for so long he is possessive of Val, and easily becomes jealous if her attention is directed elsewhere. He also is very tolerant for a mostly still wild dragon, since Val likes to paint his scales out of boredom, though he really doesn't mind the colorful stains that pattern him from time to time. Acrylic isn't vain, but does enjoy dressing up, everything from hanging flowers from his spikes to being draped in armor or leather.
STRENGTHS: Brave, loyal, and honest. Doesn't hide his feelings, and doesn't get embarrassed or annoyed easily. Good shot with solid blasts of sand, and physically is very strong. He isn't overly speedy or agile, but compared to other dragons (Minus rares) he has above average if not exceptional flight. Extremely tolerant, believes promises are made to be unbreakable. Has a high sense of honor, and a very compassionate dragon when he has his head in the game.
WEAKNESSES: While he is playful, most of the time he tends to be lazy. Sometimes when being honest he doesn't care or isn't aware he is being hurtful or offensive. Tends to hold grudges for long periods of time, and takes a long time on top of that to even gain trust in the first place. Gets jealous easily, especially when Val talks to other people, especially when those other people are male, and ESPECIALLY when he realizes her mind starts to go places and think about said males in... very explicit... ways.
