Snowy Days (Curtis, Luna)

The snow fell steadily, but it wasn't falling hard or fast enough to need to stay inside. Yes it was cold, but it was pretty bearable at this point. The forest floor was covered in snow and the trees had snow and ice starting to stick to their trunks and branches. The cloudy sky blocked out the sun from sight and instead painted the sky with gray’s and whites.

Curtis walked along with Luna and their dragons through the snowy weather. They needed to get out for the first time in a long time. Curtis loved taking his walks through the forest and he was sure Luna enjoyed them just as much, but he enjoyed them even more when Luna was with him.

Slity and Silvia were tagging behind the two of them, they could practically be invisible in this weather. Their eyes were the only things that gave away their position in the snow. Silvia was actually being calm today, or at least calmer. Slity and she were still bickering at each other, Curtis just kept an ear on their conversation to make sure they weren't being too stupid in talking.

Curtis felt the snow crunch underneath his boots as they continued to walk the path. He adjusted the belt around his waist that helped keep his jacket snug against his body, to help keep the cold out of course. He was wearing thick brown gloves that rose up to about half way up his forearm, but about a quarter of the gloves were covered by the sleeves of his jacket.

He rubbed his hand along the fuzz on his chin and looked around the forest. ” Beautiful day isn't it? “ He asked as he looked over to Luna with a smile on his face. ” I just love the snow. The cold, I could do without. But the snow is just wonderful. “

The cold air nipped at Luna's freckled nose; it was snowy and cold, her favorite weather. Today was a good day. She was surrounded by everything she loved: the beautiful weather, Curtis beside her, and their dragons playing around them. Slity and Silvia raced ahead, she could hear their playful grunts and the sound of the snow falling from high branches when they hit a tree. Ayer lagged behind, prefering to quietly observe. His dark scales stuck out abruptly from the white landscape. She could see his old amber eyes attentively watching she and Curtis walk if she glanced back.

A chilly breeze came past. She shivered and wrapped her her warm sweater around her more tightly. Her boots kicked up snow under her skirt which hung down to the top of her boots to keep her warmer during the cold moons. She could feel the cold, wet snow on her legs where it had stuck to her wool leggings and soaked into the otherwise warm material. Her skinny legs were getting cold. She started walking a bit faster in hope that the effort would warm her up. Curtis matched the new pace easily. She loved the cold, but it became bittersweet when she had a hard time keeping herself warm.

As they strolled along, Curtis attempted to chat with her, steam puffing from his mouth with each breath, but none of his smalltalk could tempt her to part her cold lips. She gave him a long glance and a sweet smile to let him know she had heard him.

She nestled her gloved hands between the crook of her arms to keep them warmer. Her thoughts wandered. It would be Snoggletog soon. As a dragon healer, that was her only big break of the year, but after the dragons returned with their young, the workload was heavy. She and Curtis would be spending the holiday together this year, and she certainly looked forward to that. This year, she would have a partner to dance with at the big village gathering. She smiled at the thought.

Her thinking was interrupted by his voice. She looked up at him. She realized she had missed what he said. "Sorry, what?"

Curtis watched their dragons as they continued to walk through the snowy landscape. Slity and Silvia had been running ahead and bumping into one another and into the landscape around them, it was amusing to watch them. Ayer had just been sitting back and watching the Fears play about in the snow.

" I said I could do without the snow." Curtis repeated himself for Luna. "As much as I love the snow, I'd rather spring come around. A lot more livley time of year." He added in .

He looked at Luna and raised his eyebrow when he saw her put her hands between her arms and her body. Bringing his hand up, he lightly tapped Luna's gloved hand. He gently slipped her hand out from it's resting spot and wrapped his hand around hers, he brought their joined hands down to their sides. Compared to Luna's gloves, his were more bulkey and thicker, so that helped keep in more heat.

" Should probably get you better gloves if those arn't keeping your hands very warm. Right?" He asked curiously as he looked ahead of them. He lost track of his dragons and couldn't see them. But just ask he was about to call for them, he saw the two pairs of blue and violet eyes pop out of the snow infront of them. It would have seemed like they were trying to hide from the humans for fun, but their eyes were dead give aways in such a landscape. He laughed as the dragons bursted out of the snowbanks and back towards them. " It's a good thing we can atleast see their eyes right? Otherwise, I don't think we would have found them." He kicked up some snow at Silvia and she swatted at the incoming attacker.

Luna nodded in reply after he repeated himself.
"You southern-blooded people do tend to warmer weather. You should see winter in Hysteria. That's brutal. I guess I like the cold because it was what I was born into. Too bad it doesn't stop me from getting so chilly when it is cold, but somehow the little sting of chill feels good, like how some people feel satisfied when they sweat. But at the same time, it's unpleasant when you get too much of it. Besides, I think winter is important because without the cold, we wouldn't appreciate the warmth" She stopped and drew out a long sigh, watching the mist puff from her mouth and disappear into nothing. "I don't know. I'm just rambling now."

He took her hand and held it in his. His large hand could wrap itself almost all the way around her small one. It warmed that hand up, but left the other cold. She shoved the loose hand in her pocket in a fist. Good enough. He made a comment about her gloves.

"Maybe you're right, but I don't think I need new ones. Another layer of sheep wool lining should take care of the problem."

He commented about the White Fears. "Oh goodness, yes! Those two on the loose would be trouble!" The thought of their brilliant blue eye color crossed her mind slowly and she couldn't help but think that both dragons and owner had a nearly matching hue, but personally, she preferred the owner's. Luckily, she could see more than just his eyes.

They walked along in silence for a few moments, hands fidgeting in acknowledgement of the other's presence. Suddenly, Luna felt her foot strike a hard object that had been hidden by the snow. She tripped and fell, taking down Curtis with her. She was completely unharmed because The snow had cushioned her fall, so her first reaction was laughter. She shook her head, loosening snowflakes from her now especially messy red hair. "Are you okay?" she asked Curtis between giggles. She reached out and brushed the snow off his face. Her voice was sarcastic "Well that was graceful..."

Before she could get an answer from Curtis, Ayer had raced up to meet the fallen couple and began to fuss over them. Making grunts of concern, he attempted to nudge Luna to her feet, but only succeeded in pushing her into Curtis, knocking his face into the snow again."Hey, stop! I'm fine, I'm fine. Don't worry, Ayer." she managed to blurt out to the dragon. Ayer took a step back.

Luna sat up again and looked at Curtis. "You okay?" she asked again. "I'm fine, just freezing cold." She shivered, there was icy snow under her coat and skirt. She tossed her hair again to release the snow, then ran her fingers through it to try and smooth it a bit, it was crazy enough to begin with, it didn't need any help with that. "Do you want to stop here for a bit? Ayer can start a fire so we can warm up."

Curtis laughed at Luna's comment. " Us southern-blooded people? I could be from the south and just be all right and dandy with the cold. Just happens that I'm not. And I'm not about to imagine Hysteria's cold right now. "
He added on as they kept walknig through the snow. He continued to listen to Luna talk, and he looked over every so often to let her know that he was listening. " Yes, and it won't be very hard to find sheep's wool anyways. " He glanced over to his dragons as they ran over towards them, " It'd be more Silvia that would be the problem. She already is, and I've seen her skulking around with Scratchet around town."

Curtis wasn't paying attention when he felt the linked hand pull him down to the ground. Even though it was ground underneath the snow, it was a very soft landing. When he heard Luna as if he was okay, he nodded to her. " Yea, I'm all good. See, this is one of the reasons I love snow." he decided to add in and he laughed at his comment aswell. He saw Ayer come over and start nudging at Luna and his own dragons come over beside him.

" Ooo. And the human takes a fall. " Silvia blurted out.

" That's gonna hurt his chances for the day. " Slity added in.

I looked over to my dragons unamused and the raised an eyebrow at them. " What the heck do you mean, my chances."

" OH NOTHING. " Silvia replied.

" I swear to god, if your talknig about that, your both sleeping outside tonight." I looked over to Luna and smiled at her. " Yes, Yes, I'm fine. Don't fret about me." He lightly gripped Luna's hair and shook it free of some of the snow. "And yes. How about you guys dig out a spot in the snow, and we'll go find some wood." Curtis suggested as he stood up from the snowy ground. He reached his hand out to Luna and helped her up. "Be right back." He said as he started walking off with his dragons.

It hadn't taken long before Curtis arrived back to Luna and Ayer with an armful of wood. Silvia and Slity followed behind with small logs of wood in their maws. The three of them walked over beside the pair and dropped the wood down in the cleared spot. " When ever your ready Ayer." Curtis said as he took a seat down beside Luna, his dragons doing the same beside them.

Luna smiled at his response about the snow. "Yes, there's plenty of reasons to like snow, but it's also the reason we're in this mess!" She laughed at the banter between Curtis and his dragons, holding back the snarky replies she wanted to interject. She shot Curtis a smirk. He helped her shake out her hair and then helped her to her feet."Thank you, darling. Okay, I'll wait here."

She watched him walk away to get the wood. Slity and Silvia began squabbling over who was going to clear the ground. She smiled at them, they were basically siblings, and it showed. She wondered if they'd ever both settle down. Perhaps they would with Snoggletog coming soon, they might find mates. She walked over to Ayer and sat down against his warm belly, he curled himself around her.

"How about you? Scoped out a mate for Snoggletog?"
"I'm too old for that now"
"Aw, well you should at least go. You can stay with the older dragons"
"Groaaan. Well the long swim will do me some good at least"

After a few minutes, the other dragons had finished their job and Curtis returned. They dropped the wood and called for Ayer. The large dragon rose to his feet and went to the spot where the wood was on the clear ground. Luna followed him. "Stand back" Luna advised. Her dragon lit the fire with a blast. The warmth felt wonderful. She sat down as close as she dared to the open flame. She rubbed her shivering, half-numb legs to get the circulation going again. She was glad they had taken a break to do this.

Curtis watched as the dragon lit the fire, the warmth from the far was almost instantaneously felt. He smiled to himself as he looked at the fire shoot up into the air above it. " Yea, Snoggletog outta be interesting this year." Curtis commented. He looked over to his dragons and threw a small ball of snow at Silvia.

"Another year where we do nothing. " Slity added in.

" I am a strong, independent White Fear that doesn't need no dragon. " Silvia said in a sing song kind of voice.

" I'm sure you are." Curtis said as he looked over to Luna and smiled. He wrapped his arm around her and held her closer to him. It was nice to be able to just sit aside and relax by a fire, especially when your cuddling with someone.

The snow had continued to fall slowly, it wasn't large amounts of snow so that was, it wouldn't make navigating back home unbearable. Even then they could just fly home, viability was pretty decent. Curtis tapped Luna's leg lightly and continued to watch the fire. "So what do we have to do when we get home. Or at least, what are we going to do when we get home?" He asked curiously as he looked back to Luna.

Sitting in front of the fire, Curtis came and sat close to her. Sharing body heat warmed her up even more quickly. The two White Fears played nearby, Luna laughed at Silvia's comment. Ayer came up behind Luna and Curtis and sat behind them so they could lean back on him. They did, it was more comfortable that way. They could feel his sides move slightly each time the dragon drew a breath, but that was more comforting than annoying. She smiled with contentment.

He wrapped his arm around her; she leaned into him and reached over to take his other hand. She glanced at his face and ran her thumb along his jaw. "You're getting scruffy..." she mumbled. "I like it." she whispered.

She sighed. "I don't know, no patients that I know of today, so probably some other healer-y stuff and maybe I'll teach you some apprentice-y stuff since you're my apprentice now." she said, teasing him. "I really have no idea, Curtis. Why? Did you have something in mind?"

She was warmer by now, her legs tingled as the circulation returned to her legs. The snow was still falling slow and quiet. It was strange to be to warm, yet surrounded by snow, but it was quite a lovely paradox.

He felt the soft thumb rub lightly along his jawline, he smiled as he heard Luna mention the fact that she liked the fact he was getting 'scruffy'. He liked the idea himself, he didn't exactly like the fact his face was always smooth, if you get what I mean.

As they laid back against Ayer, Curtis continued to listen to Luna talk, she mentioned about how she didn't have any patients along with the fact she might teach him today. He smile and laughed a bit. He shrugged when Luna asked him if he had anything in mind. "No in particular. We could just do this all day. " He said, " Unless we have something to do at home. But won't know till were home, right?" he suggested.

He slipped his hand from Luna's and gently rubbed his finger under her chin and smiled at her.

" Luuuuuuunnnnaaaa~ " Silvia cooed to the red head. " How's your silly human life going? " she asked curiously.

Why was Silvia asking? Who knew, maybe she was just bored and wanted something to do, or maybe she was actually trying to have a conversation with Luna. Curtis curiously listened to his dragon and looked out the corner of his eye at her, and of course keeping his face turned to Luna.

Luna relaxed more when she realized he didn't have plans, she preferred not to have a schedule.

He dragged his hand away from hers and cradled her face in the tips of her fingers. They gazed at one another for a moment. Just as she thought she was going to get a kiss, Silvia poked in. She was irritated for a moment, but couldn't help but let out a little chuckle. What was that dragon up to?

Ayer rolled his eyes at the young dragon's antics. Luna turned her attention to Silvia and scratched her scaly head with a smile. "Well, Silvia. My 'silly human life' is pretty good. I get along pretty well with this silly human." she poked Curtis "And we keep all the dragons healthy, and so I'm happy. How's your silly dragon life?"

She noticed Curtis' intense blue eyes trained on her as she spoke. She didn't say anything about it because she didn't want him to stop, and he might if he realized he did it so often. It was comforting to her to have someone so concerned about her, as silly as it sounded. She gave him a little smile before Silvia answered her question.

Silvia shook her head and stuck out her tongue at Luna and Curtis. "My silly dragon life is perfect thank you. I got this butt to mess around with. " She said as she smacked Slity with her tail. "Plus, I continue the co-reign of trickery and chaos with Scratchet. " she added in.

"I'm still not sure how I get stuck flying with Curtis ninety nine percent of the time, and you barley go flying with him." Slity pointed out. " Oh yea that's right, you always run off when ever were just about to start. "

Silvia let out a laughing like noise at Slity, and Slity retaliated by smacking Silvia back with his tail.The two quickly settled down again and it didn't escalated to anything else. Just simple banter between each other. 

"Something wrong with flying with me? " Curtis asked curiously as he looked over at Slity.

" Of course not, wouldn't even dream of missing on a flight session. " Slity replied.

Curtis laughed a little and looked back to Luna and smirked at her. He leaned into Luna and planted his lips on hers, as he did that he moved his hand and rested it on her waist. He just kinda, melted away if you wanted to say. He enjoyed every moment of the kiss.

Luna giggled at Curtis' dragons. Flight was the only part of Curtis' life that she wasn't really involved in. Dragons, yes, but flying, no. She just couldn't handle the heights. It had always been an irrational fear, but it terrified her. Did he prefer having the time alone, or would he rather have her share in that part of her life. She'd probably never know. He was too sweet either way: he'd never tell her he didn't want her to do something with him, at the same time, he'd never ask her to do something she was so scared of. Sometimes they flew close to the ground, but secretly, she was afraid of that as well, but only since she'd fallen off, even when they flew low. She wasn't hurt, since she'd only fallen in the water, but it had shook her up. Now, when she had to fly, she insisted on riding in front of Curtis so he could hold on to her. It made her feel safer, but she also liked being wrapped up in him for so long. She snuggled in closer to him as she thought about it. She was very warm now.

She felt his body rumble when he laughed at Slity. The sensation made her smile. He looked at her and smiled back and put his hand around about her waist before planting an unexpected kiss on her. Her heart kicked at her chest in surprise. She wrapped her arms around the back of his neck and felt him relax and press into her. She enjoyed it for a few seconds before feeling very mischievous.

She thought twice about it, not wanting him to get the wrong idea, but she couldn't resist the temptation. Just as he felt very comfortable, she broke herself quickly from him (and it wasn't easy with him holding her so closely) and sprinted away, laughing. Hopefully he would take her joke. "Now you have to catch me!" she yelled back at him.

Curtis smiled during the kiss as he felt Luna's arms wrap around his next. He felt pretty comfortable in the position he was in at the moment, but Luna seemed to have to ruin his comfortableness and get up and run off. He knew that she was just playing around with him, and that was fine with him. He quickly got up from his seat and looked at the fire, " Slity, Silvia, Ayer put the fire out. I'll be back in a moment." He stated as he ran off after Luna.

Curtis knew he was faster then Luna, and chances are he could probably run for a longer time then she could. He made his way after Luna, seeing her not far in front of him. He picked up his pace a bit more and was gaining ground on the fleeting girl, he smirked to himself as he got ever closer to Luna.

"Boo." He said from behind Luna as he managed to grab her wrist and slowly bring the both of them to a walk. He smiled at her and panted lightly as he looked at her, " I was so nice and comfortable and you had to run on me. Pfft." Before Luna was able to say too much, he picked her up and slung her over his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her and made sure he wouldn't drop her. He started making his way back to the dragons.


Once they reached the dragons he motioned for them to follow with his free hand. "Come on guys, going back to the house now." he said and smiled as he followed back down the snow covered path with Luna incapacitated.

Luna ran for a while before Curtis caught him, the kiss had dazed him enough to slow him a little, but it wasn't too difficult for him to catch up. He took her wrist and made her slow down. Her cheeks were ruddy as she grinned at him. He complained about her running away and her giggled. He came to toward her and wrapped his arms around her, and Luna expected him to finish the kiss. Instead, he picked her up and slung her body over his shoulder.

It shocked her at first, but he held her securely. She screamed with laughter, she hadn't expected this at all. He carried her back to where they had been, she was still laughing. She pounded (not too hard) on his back "Put me down, you lovesick moose!" she yelled, unconcerned about her volume. It was the middle of the forest, after all. She tried to wiggle, but he had her too tightly.She thought about tickling him, but didn't want to risk him falling and hurting either one of them.

"What are you doing to me?! Where are we going?! she asked. She complained playfully, but she was kind of curious since she couldn't see with her mess of hair in the way.
