NAME: Beornwyn Veen
PLAY BY: Michiel Huisman
AGE: 25
OCCUPATION: Beornwyn has been wandering around many parts of mainland Europe and the Viking archipelago for sometime. He has not settled down anywhere as of yet since he left Red Rock and if you ask him why he hasn't he'll simply say "I have too much of the word to still see to settle myself down." Therefore if you wish to classify him as an adventurer at best for occupation then so be it. Aside from wandering he tends to play teacher for newbies wanting to learn how to wield a sword, or sign up as a mercenary, in a way, as he guarded the same caravans he travelled along with from time to time on his way to his next destination. Hey, why not make money while you're getting to the place you want to get to anyways.
GENDER & SEXUALITY: Male - Bisexual
LIKES:
- He genuinely enjoys being around kids and teens, they are energetic and adventurous like he still seems to hold onto. This also comes in handy when he's teaching swordsmanship as the majority of his temporary students are younger than twenty about eighty percent of the time.
- If you were to joke about going on an adventure, chances are Beornwyn will force you to make that an actual suggestion, there's nothing he loves more than going off into the world to see and experience new things.
- To some people trying new things can be terrifying, to Beornwyn taking risks and trying new things are one of the many simple thrills that life presents to him and the people around him. This also tends to get other people that accompany him to be persuaded if possible into trying things that they have not yet attempted before, granted it's not something that would have a good chance of getting them killed, Beornwyn wouldn't bother with such matters if that was the case.
- Beornwyn tends to be a very sociable person even with complete strangers, whom of course he is in most contact with so it's just about on the same level as talking with one of his friends for him. He enjoys being able to talk with others and share stories amongst each other.
- Cool, dry weather. Think fall, or even spring granted its not raining twenty-four seven.
DISLIKES:
- Negative people, it's one of the few kinds of people Beornwyn can not stand. He's not even entirely sure himself, but he doesn't like people raining down on his party with negative comments and such. Other people he cant stand are liars, cheats, and thieves, though being a thief is a lifestyle choice and not personality wise, he still includes it into that category.
- If the place you want to drag Beornwyn to is hot and humid, you better be ready for him to be just a tab bit on the cranky side. He has always had a true haltered for mother nature when she decides to stick water in the air and then add lots of heat around it.
- Being bossed around is one of the things that Beornwyn could never really handle well, sure he will take and order or two but granted he's not being barked at for something then he should be okay.
- Staying put in one place isn't ideal for Beornwyn, there's a reason why he prefers to continue travelling. It has always bugged his to have the surrounding environment stay the same around him for periods of time, slowly he has been trying to somehow snap this discomfort out of himself by keeping himself in small settlements and towns for longer periods of time while he travels.
- Dislikes drinking heavily, supposedly the last time he got drunk 'things' happened that he had been told of, so he stays away from drinking too much to not repeat it.
STRENGTHS:
- Swordsmanship has been a skill that runs through his family line, he knows how to wield a blade with more knowledge than most who do around him. He wouldn't be teaching others how to use a sword if he was no good at it himself.
- Navigation of numerous sorts, being able to travel based on the position of the sun during the day along with landmarks that would be quite apparent, and the stars at night.
- He has a way with words, it's what helps him strike up conversations with just about anyone.
- Along with being outgoing, he's also a fairly easy guy to get along with.
WEAKNESSES:
- He has a tough time with being able to lie, it's just not his way.
- It's a good thing he's an expert with a sword because he's an absolute nub when it comes to using a bow or most blunt weapons (Maces, Clubs, etc)
- When he's trying to do something he's never done before, normally beforehand he never thought it through a hundred percent, or while doing whatever it may be he's trying for the first time he prefers to do it on his own, even when the signs of help may be apparent.
- He doesn't tend to pay attention all the time, so if someone was running at them with a sword and previously he was just sitting there minding his own business, he might not notice until the attacker was ten steps from him.
FEARS:
- Beornwyn isn't a very big fan of being on boats, the only time he every gets on one is if it's to cross a river or lake, but never a full on ocean. He would just much rather be in the air or on dry land is all.
- He fears the idea of getting dragged into an army, not only does he not like the order giving part, but if it was an army like Red Rocks well it just adds all the more reason to him staying clear of them.
- Although it's a natural fear of everyone, getting accused of something is something Beornwyn is defiantly not okay with. Lets put it like this, young Beornwyn was in the wrong place at the wrong time when a local store owner had some precious items go missing, and lets say that he didn't get off too easy with his accused stealing. This also links into why he has a dislike for thieves.
- Beornwyn hates and fears the idea of getting old, he thinks that he likely wont be as full of life as he has been when he grows older and the loathes that idea.
AMBITIONS:
- He hopes to be able to learn how to properly wield and use a bow along with other ranged weapons (Throwing knives and such)
- Asia, Africa, these are the names of vast areas of lands he had never visited before, but he hopes that he will be able to in the future.
- He wants to be able to make a name for himself before he passes on, explore new lands, create something, do something, anything that would prove to be worth while and that many people would remember for years down the road is what he's thinking of.
- His map, Beornwyn had always found that maps that other people had created were inaccurate at best. So he created his own map, marking the coasts lines, rivers, forests, mountains and everything else as she travelled around. He hopes to be able to complete at least the lands of Europe before he calls it quits with it.
SECRETS:
- Getting accused of stealing, he never actually told anyone of what happened.
- Supposedly the last time he got drunk enough to the point he wasn't going to remember what happened the next day, his friends had told him he did some 'things' and he's just kept it all to himself ever since.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: Beornwyn is a happy, friendly, outgoing and adventurous guy that is more then easy to get along with granted to work with him, and the chances of him being the opposite usually depend on the situation he'd be in. Just about anyone could strike up a conversation with him and not be let down, just be happy that he's not one of those people that ramble on and on about something no one cares about. If you can get him on an adventure of some kind with you, that's when you'd get the meet the real <IN>, showing you his quick thinking and judgement, but also his possible quirky side when it comes to doing things he might not have the greatest amount of experience with.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Beornwyn stands around 6 foot to 6'2 roughly and weighing about 170lbs, give or take a few. His body is built for handing a sword and being able to use it, arm strength along with chest and stomach muscles are likely the most built regions of his body. Moving away, he has bluish-green eyes that are nothing as vivid as his brothers are, but they can still pull you in during a chat. His hair is a typical brown shade and if not then a little darker then normal and generally in a messy style on his head from his habit to run his hands through his hair periodically, and a light amount of facial hair.
When it comes to clothing, his styles of clothing for warm and cold weathers differ greatly, and obviously to accommodate the jobs they are meant to do. In warmer climates Beornwyn tends to wear a basic clothing style, a laced shirt without much use for the lace and a brown leather vest, a pair of lightweight brown pants to obviously allow for some sort of cooling, and only slightly bulky black leather boots. Now in the colder climates he'd be more comparable to a viking then any other group. Bulky fur boots, a thicker brown pair of pants and if the weathers bad maybe two pairs, a thicker and somewhat padded white shirt underneath a fur lined, black leather covered chest piece. Leather bracers that have the same black colour to them as the chest piece run from his wrists to elbows and from there, again if the weathers bad, he'd wear a pair of fur lined gloves but normally doesn't. And along with it, just like the gloves if its cold enough he will wear a fur cape to help from wind behind him.
HISTORY: Beornwyn was born on august 15th in Red Rock. He was born into, at the time, a family that was very slowly gaining popularity over their meadery they had created. Beornwyn was a happy and energetic child just like he is nowadays, he'd be out of the house a lot and would always be finding others to play around with. He had always tended to wander off into the fields outside the city to play with the country kids that were out there, he found them much more enjoyable to be around then the ones inside the city, but that's not to say he didn't have friends in both areas. He'd flip flop between playing with the city kids and the country kids, but one day when he was accused of stealing by a local store owner while playing around the area, he wasn't so much taken to the guards as he'd though he would be, but instead he was beat up abit to be 'shown a lesson about stealing'. Luckily enough the owner didn't get to far into beating on young Beornwyn before the guards came along with the actual thief, lucky for those guards they probably got a pay raise for catching both a thief and a man beating up on a kid. After that Beornwyn tended to stick to playing outside of the city, to avoid any more confrontations such as that.
When Beornwyn reached the age of eight, he ended up getting a new younger brother which his parents would come to name Curtis. Beornwyn was fond of him as he grew up, but he didn't get to watch him grow up too much before he headed out of Red Rock. Aside from the fact that he had always wanted to travel, and now that his aunt and her sister (Adkynns mother and aunt) was setting out on their own journey southward, Beornwyn was allowed to tag along. He told his parents he'd make his way back every now and then to visit and they were happy that now fourteen year old Beornwyn we doing what he wanted to do.
Starting off his journey from Red Rock started with an interesting way. The three of them stowed away in a merchants cart on the way through the mountain passes, they were well aware of the guard that were stationed at the ends of the pass so they were prepared in advanced. Once out of the mountains and off to the south, that's when the journey really began. Beornwyn traveled with his aunt and her sister for quiet some time, up until he was about sixteen or seventeen years old. By this time he had split off from them and they went their separate ways as Beornwyn headed for mainland Europe after spending so much time around the southern ends of the British isles. When he got to mainland Europe we was ecstatic to start his way, he started off with travelling with caravans being hired on as a guard he travelled from place to place. It was not only safer, but he also got paid to do it too.
A few months after he started travelling on his own, he found himself stuck in a small french city near it's southern borders. Trade routes were blocked for some unknown reason to him, so he ended up spending quiet a bit of time in this town. One day when he made out into the forests by himself, he found something that would be very unexpected.
As he strolled through the forest, he had come across an ambassador dragon, he was shocked at this because although they were a common species they were very spread out so actually coming across one was a task in itself. He had two assumptions, either the dragon lived around these parts or that it was here on its way along a migrating path. He didn't know much about the migration paths of the dragons around here so he couldn't be for certain in his guesses. He merely sat back and observed the dragon from a safe distance as he thought it would be, granted he didn't make much noise, and unfortunately he made noise. It had been a bad time to look up to the afternoon sun and well, all of the sudden have to sneeze from doing so. The wild ambassador heard it and looked at Beornwyn, luckily enough this dragon didn't want to murder the first thing it was. It was friendly but also off put being it was a wild dragon of course, so getting it to come a little closer was never easy. When Beornwyn left that day, he wondered again about his previous thoughts, whether the dragon lived around here or was simply migrating. The next day he had his answer when he returned again and still found the dragon there, he would have figured if it was migrating it would have left by morning.
Being stuck in that town for a month or so really irked Beornwyn, he didn't like staying in one place especially if his goal was to travel around, but going back to that Ambassador day in and out helped ease this from him. When it finally came time that he could leave the area, he went back to the ambassador one last time he figured he might try to see if he could get it to come along with him, it took him the rest of the day but by days end he seemed to have been able to get the dragon to come with him. As for a name of his new found partner he decided to name him Delemia.
Fast forward years later until he's twenty-four or twenty-five and he's started to make his way northward after exploring many areas in southern Europe. At this point he is more than likely to land on Berk then anywhere else.
WEAPON OF CHOICE: Long sword with great balance between the hilt and the blade itself.
FIGHTING STYLE: Mix between defensive and aggressive fighting, because you cant just focus on one or the other.
DRAGON :
NAME: Delemia
TYPE: Ambassador
APPEARANCE: Typical Ambassador looking ambassador with his iridescent colouring being a light beige colour.
PERSONALITY: Delemia is a fairly friendly dragon to those who have come into contact, and had a positive experience, with him. Otherwise if you're just meeting him for the first time he tends to be defensive, not only of himself but of Beornwyn as well. Like the majority of ambassadors he still has the 'high-headed' personality trait that he carries with him, but its a fifty-fifty chance you'll get the attitude that accompanies it throughout the day. Other then all that he pushes himself into Beornwyn in terms of being a nuisance just because of his personality.
STRENGTHS: Quick flyer, plays a very nice defensive role.
WEAKNESSES: Lacks very much of an offensive side when it comes to fighting.
KEYWORD HIDDEN IN RULES: Afternoon mi lady REEKEEBEEBEES
