Shrieking Glider
Physical Description: At first glance you would not think these small, wyvern-like dragons would be able to carry a rider and for the most part you would be right. The Shirking Glider's body length is a mere 4 feet long with another 4 for its tail. It has a slim frame and hollow bones making it so light a man could comfortably carry one on his back. The Shrieking Glider is one of the few dragons to have external ears and these come in the form of large webbed protrusions on either side of its head. It also has a set of spins running down its back which normally lay flat unless it feels threatened and a long webbed tail. It's wings are the most notable feature with an impressive 14 foot wingspan it can easily take advantage of the smallest of breezes to sail effortlessly through the air. It also has a powerful turn of speed to it thanks to strong flight muscles and lack of weight.

Typical Behaviour: Shrieking Gliders are sociable, chatty dragons and in the wild live in large colonies. When trying to attract a mate the male will build a large hanging nest like a weaver bird to impress the females. Fights between males break out with one male trying to shatter another's nest with it's shriek.
Abilities: The Shrieking Glider can use echo location by making sharp clicking sounds as it flies and then listening for the returns with it's large webbed ears. When the Shrieking Glider intensifies it's shriek into a single concussive burst it can shatter small wooden structures at long range.
The Shrieking Glider's flame is fed but a high pressure gas bladder through narrow vents allowing for an extremely intense yet short blue flame. This flame extends no more that 2 feet from it's mouth and can seldom be used for defence. Instead the Shrieking Glider uses it's flame like a cutting torch to cut loose materials to build it's nests with.
Drawbacks: With such a small, frail body it does not like to get into many conflicts and uses it's speed to escape rather than stand and fight. A Shrieking Glider's ears are very sensitive and loud noises can hurt it if it is not expecting it. A Shrieking Glider can only carry the weight of it's rider and is not able to carry much of anything else.
Training Methods: These dragons can not be ridden in the conventional sense as the weight of a person could break a Shrieking Glider's back. For this reason Vikings have adapted a harness specially designed for the glider the distribute weight around it's body with the use of a suspend handles. As the dragon's name Suggest, it's rider flies his dragon in the same manner as a hang glider.
