Infernal Horker
Images (if any):
Physical Description: The Infernal Horker is a medium sized wyvern-like dragon, what means that they have four limbs, two back legs and two wings. Their way of walking is a lot like the Deadly Nadder’s, but if they grow tired they will start to use their four limbs like a Monstrous Nightmare to move around. The size is around the same of the Monstrous Nightmare, but depending on the specimen they can be slightly smaller or grow a little more, the females are slightly bigger than the males in most cases. Their head resembles slightly that of a hawk in shape, though it’s a little wider and instead of a beak they have a powerful maw filled with long and really sharp teeth, the ones of the upper jaw are usually longer than those of the lower jaw, their tongue is pointed and it has a really raspy texture, like a sand paper, this tongue is perfect for cleaning their scales, their head oi of a ligther tone than the rest of their body. Their big rounded eyes have a big pupil and are placed near the front of the dragon’s head, giving them a wide range of view.
Their wings are exceptionally long, usually they start with their usual color which suddenly turns into a lighter shade, almost white, in the tips being almost black, in other words, these are tricolor, It’s wings have a finger-like claw at the top, which is extremely sharp. Their tail is long and have a fin-like structure starting near to the body, wronging wider till it reaches the tip of the tail, the tail itself is always of the main color of the dragon, with the fins being lighter, almost white and their tips being darker, almost black, this pattern is similar to that of the wings. Their talons resemble those of a bird of prey, having four fingers, three positioned towards the front and one towards the back, each finger has a curved and extremely sharp claw. They have four horns in total, two located in the base of their heads, which are shorter and point to the chest of the dragon before slightly curving downwards, and other two in the top of their head, that start straight, pointing backwards in a diagonal way, curving at the very end in a handle-like way, which allows a rider to grab them if they have one.
The most common color of the scales of an Infernal Horker is greenish-blue, though you may found dragons with other colorations from time to time, the second more common coloration being the reddish-orange one. In the males these colors are always brighter, and some may have a small set of feathers on the upper back of their head, up to five feathers, which can be of a really bright red, yellow, green or blue colorations, the use of these feathers is a mystery, but some theorize that the males with the longer and brightest feathers are the strongest ones, and consequently females are attracted to the males with this kind of feathers.

Typical Behaviour: Be warned though, the behavior of these dragons can be considered awkward, since you’ll never know what to expect from them, but one thing is sure, you’ll never be bored around them, and if you bond with one you will have a loyal and caring friend that will always be there to help you out, no matter how small or big the problem is. They are also known to be curious creatures, always wanting to learn about everything around them, some Vikings assure that they love when their riders read book at them or draw things for them.
They have a solitary nature most of the time, but if you put them alongside other dragon is more likely that they will get along fairly well, showing excellent social traits that help them to befriend almost anyone around them, you only need to have the patience to stand the dragon’s behavior. Some Vikings theorize that they share a common ancestor with the Deadly Nadder due to they being similar in several ways, but none had been able to prove this.
Abilities: - Strong bite, enough to break the bones of a full grown yak’s legs like if these were simple chicken bones.
-They are able to hold not-too-heavy things with the finger-claw that they have in their wings
- They can also use this claws as really sharp daggers in a close range combat when using their fire or crushing bite is impossible for them.
- Their eyes have the ability of not only see in colors like a normal dragon does, but also of the ultraviolet spectrum of the light, what allows them to detect polarized lights and magnetic fields from the air.
- The huge amount of nerves connecting the ocular receptors with their brain grants them a really good sight, they can see a stray sheep from really far away with ease.
- Their long wings and tail grants them a really good control and speed when flying, and though they can’t compete with a Night Fury, their stats are really good.
- They can plummet to the ground and its almost sure that they will be able to regain control when they open their wings, they use this technique quite often, mostly to catch prey or to flee from bigger dragons if they are in need to do so, since most dragons don’t have this ability and are most likely to crash with the ground.
- In land they can use their long tail as a whip to fight their enemies, but this is only used when they are desperate.
- Their talons have a really strong and firm grip, what allows them to keep their prey in place without having to worry if this prey will struggle or not.
- The claws in their talons are as sharp, or even more, than the claw in their wings.
- They can breathe fire, having a maximum of ten shoots.
- They can control the heat of the fire, as well as for how long they shoot, the average length of a shot is of eight seconds, but they can keep breathing fire after that amount of time, this is known as the merged shot, if they use their ten shots at once it means that they can breathe fire for one minute with twenty seconds without stopping.
- Merged shot's lenght can be controlled as well, for example, if the fire’s heat is doubled, they can only breath the fire for forty seconds straight, if the heat is cut to half, they can breathe fire for two minutes and forty seconds.
Drawbacks: - They don’t have the same strength when opening their mouths, so it isn’t hard to keep their mouths shut.
- Using their tail as a whip can torn or damage the fins in their tails, what can make flying harder for them, or even impossible if the damage is too big.
- Younger Infernal Horkers don’t know how to control the strength in their talons very well, and its known that sometimes they had accidentally crushed their prey when trying to grab it.
- Despite how good their vision is during the day, their nocturnal vision is simply awful.
- If they use the merged shot for too long they can run out of fire, and can fall severely ill, is highly recommended to not merge more than 2 shots if you don’t want to see your dragon like this.
- If the 10 max shots are used at once in a merged shot, your dragon will definitely fall ill, there are cases of Infernal Horkers dying when attempting this.
- Making the fire too hot can turn against the dragon, burning their own throats and mouths.
- When using merged shots, even if you only merged two shots, your dragon will need at least one minute to be able to breathe fire again, is highly recommended to avoid fire breathing for at least 5 minutes though, otherwise the dragon is in risk of falling ill.
Training Methods: The best way to befriend one is to give them a nice juicy steak, some of them may be more picky than others and will want it cooked, how much you need to cook it depends on the dragon’s tastes, but there are also others that won’t mind this at all.
Habitat: Infernal Horkers are known to be diurnal dragons, hiding during the night when their vision is bad. They are more common around 4 PM though, the reason of this is unknown. They are also rare for most of the year, but during autumn they can be seen flying around Berk in larger numbers, some Vikings think that their mating season is during said season, and that’s why they are so rare during all the year but that specific season.
Diet: Their favourite food is steak!
