Bloody Lasher
by Crystal
Physical Description: This dragon is all tail, and little body. With a whip like tail, it has been know to cut through solid rock. It has a fairly round head, with large nostrils and a wide mouth. It has two large eyes towards the front of it's face, and directly behind them on the back of the head is a large set of twisted horns. It has very short legs, each ending in three rather blunt claws. Along its back, and about a quarter of the way down it's tail are short spikes.
They are primarily a dark shade of brown, ranging from a deep rusty colour to a dark almost black brown. Their spines and horns in contrast are usually bright orange, getting brighter the closer to the tip.
Typical Behaviour: They are very social creatures, you will usually find at least two at a time. They have a nasty habit of building dams, and building their nests on top of them. This behavior tends to cause some troubles down river.
The males generally build the dams, and the females pick the best dam and nest with the male who built it. The nest building is done together, as a bonding experience.
They are generally indifferent to vikings, as long as they stay away the dragons are happy. But once they start to interfere, viking filet is on the menu.
Females are much more aggressive, and most fights between Lashers is started by a female. Males will cower away from the females, and almost always avoid a hostile situation unless forced into it.
Since they are flightless dragons, you usually find them on the ground. They don't like being high off the ground and would sooner go underground than up a tree.
Abilities: Whip like tails, can slice through almost everything. A Lashers attack of choice is twirling it's tail, much like a ribbon. If their twirling display does not deter any attacker, then then move on to whipping it's tail at a target. This tactic rarely fails, and after that they have no back up besides their fire. A Lashers fire is truly a last resort. They posses a very weak fire breath, for a human it is hot while in contact but only leaves minor burn damage if any at all.
Drawbacks: With such weak fire, a Lashers only real defense is it's tail. If you can get past it's tail there is literally nothing to worry about.
Training Methods: Female Lashers are near impossible to train due to their tempers, the much calmer males are better for training. One must make themselves appear small, and have an offering of food to gain this small dragons trust. It will not approach if it feels even slightly scared. The key to these little guys is persistence. They will take food, and run off but if you stay still they will always come back to see if you have more to offer.
Habitat: They can usually be found damming up rivers, but they also will build their dams on the sides of lakes if they can't find a river. The close the water is to a forest, the better and males can often be seen searching for the perfect tree to complete their dam. Females tend to stick to open fields, and live in groups of six or more.
Common
Diet: Fish and berries.
