"They ran us out of our homes, our sanctuary, and our lives. But if there is one thing that the people of Red Rock can do, it's survive against all odds and thrive." - 10 ARRE Akarise Delventori, Red Rock Philosopher.
The people of Red Rock haven't always been where their majestic city sits as of present, but if you wish to put our peoples name in a different way, then it's safe to call us 'Victims'.
One year before the settlement of Red Rock, the people of Vittania were living in peace and harmony with their surrounding environment. Even to this day, the cause that lead to the destruction of Vittania is still unknown, but the actual thing that destroyed the town is one fact that is very solid in its foundations. It was dragons.
Before the attack, people were never involved with the dragons of the lowlands, to the south of Vittania. This is why it makes it so difficult to wonder why the town was burned to the ground in the first place by a large group of rampant dragons, that is something that will be lost to history.
Records say that the attack happened in mid day. Thanks to the timing of the attack, scouts were able to relay information back to the town of the impending attack that was fast approaching. Old letters have said many things about what happened before the attack and after.
"It was as if they blacked out the sky. They were coming fast, and they looked angry."
With the early warning, and lack of military personal in Vittania, a mass evacuation was ordered. People were only to grab what they could carry and leave everything else behind, for it would only burden the soon to be travelling people. With the early orders, many people were able to leave the town quickly enough to avoid being burned or eaten by the enraged dragons.
The people of Vittania fled northward in hopes of moving away from the dragons and never having to encounter them again. Many had suggested they head south towards the larger colonies but their leaders pushed them northward as originally planned.
With months passing by, it was quite the journey for the people of the old ruined town of Vittania. They knew they would never be able to see their old homes again, and many had grown to accept the fact. Those of the people that had moved on from the thoughts would soon find a new safe haven and a new place to start a wonderful life.
The mountain pass that separated the new land and the land they left behind was a saying to some:
"This mountain pass is like the gates of the great divines from above. We are entering through the gates into a glorious new land where we can start an even better life then the one before."
Three hundred people fled from Vittania, only two hundred made it to the large fleeing groups final resting spot. Surprisingly enough, out of the hundred that didn't make it, only a quarter of them died to illness or old age. The rest of that lot had abandoned the ground either one at a time, or in small chunks. They left to head back south towards bigger cities, saying that it was a waste of time to head northward into the wilderness of the land. The leaders and noblemen at the time had told the deserters that they were free to leave, but they were never to show their faces again.
With this new 'promise land' as some came to call it, the hopes of the travel weary settlers were starting to rise for the first time in forever.
Where the Red Rock harbor stands today is where the great explorer, Vesto Miranette, gave his speech along side the old
leaders of Vittania.
leaders of Vittania.
"Today we have come to the edge of the land where land meets sea, to finally settle down in this beautiful landscape. Mountains that will act as our guardians from intruders from the south, and the seas to the north that will help bring sea weary travelers to land. The land that we stand upon right now, is different then other land like it, for the land that you all stand upon is red. Red and orange like the colour of the flames that took our old homes from us, but that is all behind us now. This new land is where we will live, this is where we will thrive, and this is where we will make our mark upon this vast world. The settlement of Red Rock is only just beginning."

Years of Trade
“Trading. They say that over time it allows people of other nations to see a country’s weaknesses, but in Red Rock we learn much more about other countries then they do of us.” – 63 ARRE Harold of the Warwick household.
Like the rest of Red Rocks history, the first fifty years of settlement for the growing town were eventful.
In 17 ARRE, there were many concerns that Red Rock wasn’t going to be able to support itself on its own. That was a primary concern during the first teens of Red Rock. People began to devise plans on how to start up and maintain trade to and from Red Rock. The first idea was to run trade routes by land through the mountain pass, but that was quickly disregarded and ignored due to the fact most did not want caravans to be in danger passing through the pass. As they looked for further options, the most prominent idea was trade route, which ended up being the only real option available to the young town.
Within five years’ time, the first true trade route was established by sea routes. With a trade route travelling from Red Rock to the city of Londinium, the reasoning for this route was because not only did people know of the city and its status, it was a great trade partner as it had plenty of shipments going in and out by sea.
Red Rock was able to establish more and more trade routes from every corner of the known world, some even as far as the Chinese coasts. The individuals that came up with each trade route were redeemed with praise and popularity throughout Red Rock.
Although Red Rock was small and new, the resources that had surrounded the town were immense. Numerous amounts of different ores and gems were able to be mined from the mountains to the south, wood and wood byproducts were large thanks to the huge amounts of forests that sit nestled at the base of the mountain range. Across the sprawling fields that reach from the edge of the forest all the way to the coast line are abundant in fantastic growing soil. Then the sea is last, its bounty of marine life that swims close to the shore, and of course the trade routes that are established from the coastline.
When it comes to trade, Red Rock comes out on top. Their impressive routes and trade infrastructure are unable to be beat by a majority of towns and cities that are out there in the world, and the ones that are able to beat them in the economic race are cities that are a hundred times the size of the small and new town.
The harbor that sits on the coast line is one of the biggest anyone has ever seen in the northern sea. It’s more than a kilometer long and has the ability to have more than eighty ships docked at a time, and further into the future there are times that the even with the size of the harbor, not every ship could be docked.
The Red Rock fleet of caravan ships started out with a mere three ships, built right in the town itself. Other ships would either be built in Red Rock or bought off by the town with money earned from their trade. The size of just the merchant fleet along stands at nearly a hundred ships at the writing of this history text.
Later on in the history of Red Rocks trading life, the government would place merchant passes in play. These passes would allow for the ability to trade within Red Rock borders from outside sources. Although this hindered the amount of trade routes at the time, many of the notable trade partners were given passes, if Red Rock did not do this it would surely make its own people suffer. With the complimentary passes being given out to the more powerful cities, this helped build relations with each city. Diplomacy was something that Red Rock was still learning how to truly grasp within its childhood.
It wasn’t until the fiftieth year that Red Rock finally allowed for trade routes to be permitted through the mountain pass. Do not think that the trade route was just opened at will, the government put in a lot of time and effort to make sure that the passage way was both safe and secure from outside intruders. Today, the pass is only at threat from one possible group, the snow raiders, and even then they tend to keep their distance from the passage to ensure that they do not get caught up in the governments’ spotlight.
Although it was slow at first, years after the land trade routes were established they were finally able to connect with lands as far as Londinium. Even though it was faster by sea, boats were only able to carry so much, with land caravans joining the fray it allowed for even more goods to be transported from the south.
Some people within the town were skeptical of all the various trade routes that had taken their places.
“We can’t just trade with every nation we see fit. Problems can only arise from this. Cultures, religions, and languages and so on, they will on begin to conflict with each other and the outcome can only end badly.”
Although it is true that Red Rock came into a handful of problems with establishing new trade routes, many of them were solved with very minimal effects on both sides. When Red Rock diplomats weren't able to settle a problem, the bonus of having a strong influence in the city of Londinium helped them out. Much more trained diplomats would come from the city to the location they were needed at and helped to negotiate terms with whatever possible group the Rockers had encountered at the time.
Trade helped bring prosperity to Red Rock in the first place, and it has and surely will continue to do so for the future.

The Establishment of a True Government
"We no longer adopt our culture through our ancestors roots. We have created our own culture in this land, and it has begun to spread." 76 ARRE Yuan Pare Military Commander
After years of trade, the coffers of Red Rock had begun to overflow. The leadership that was in place needed to use the money for something that Red Rock did not already have. The answer to what the money would be used for would soon come into play.
In the year 56 ARRE, Red Rock began to experience problems with foreign and domestic people. With trading extending to such far off lands, people in other lands began to raid the vast network of trade routes by sea. On land it was a similar issue, land caravans were being ambushed on their way south. The leadership needed to put in place some sort of security.
The first of the Red Rock army were merely bodyguards for it's convoys, but this would only be a start to the newly formed army.
As the years went on, Red Rock saw that it's trade routes were finally safe for sure. Groups of armored men and cavalry escorted trade caravans on land, and warships escorted large groups of cargo ships on the seas.
The leadership at the time was slowly deteriorating though. The current leader, Merak Jackmen the second was turning Red Rocks prosperity into a civil war.
Merak ordered the private army of the Articul to sack anything of importance or worth from the homes of the people. Because the only army that was stationed in Red Rock was that of the Articul, Merak was able to do what he pleased. This chaos ensued for nearly and entire year, and it only took that single year for the people of Red Rock to fight back.
The resistance of people in Red Rock had no army, no formal training, and no true strong points within the town, but they would gain an ally that would help them overturn Merak and his army. That ally was the dragons.
Before the conflict in Red Rock occurred, no one had ever trusted the dragons that occupied most of the mountain ranges and the forests closest to the mountings base. But they were the only force that the resistance was able to think of that would be able to help them out.
A young girl by the name of Hellana was the founder of dragon training in Red Rock in the year 84 ARRE. Many who had seen this girl at work were amazed by the ability that she possessed to tame the wild dragons, and many learned from her as well. It took months for the people to learn how to fully tame and train their dragons, but when they finally did, the Articul had no chance.
People said that it was like the heavens were raining balls of fire on the day of the attack against the Articul. The army of Merak had very little chance against the dragons, they lacked the equipment to take out dragons, due to the fact they were expecting footmen or cavalry at the most. The push into the Articul was swift, Merak's army was dropping in numbers quicker then anyone had ever seen before.
By midnight, the flags of Meraks leadership above Red Rock were lowered and burned. The flag of the current day Red Rock ensign was raised all over the town, bringing people out into the streets in celebration. The army of the resistance walked down the main street of Red Rock, the dragons along side them. The expression of peoples faces were both of joy and fear, most had never been so close to a dragon before.
Early in the morning the next day, everyone gathered in the main square to hear about the changes that were going to occur. The biggest and most important change that was listed was the idea that the leadership would change people every ten years. This rule was created to allow for Red Rock to function normally, but also make sure that one person cannot bring destruction upon the land again like Merak had accomplished.
For hundreds of years after this change had been brought upon Red Rock, it has done nothing but smoothly functioned as was intended to. Most leaders fulfill their ten year terms, but there are some who resigned before their term was up.
Trade routes were not affected much by the problems that were occurring in Red Rock, for the most part none of them knew what had gone on in the first place.
Merchants and sailors would figure that out the next time they arrived at Red Rock, and it wouldn't be by the word of mouth, it would be by the sense of sight. They would see the new flag of Red Rock flying above the docks and the entrances of the mountain pass.
All information is given by accounts of letters, journals, scripts, and oral word from the scholars and historians of the Red Rock Empire and the Articul. No ounce of truth is left out, because true knowledge is power.
