Toxic Hell
Physical Description: The head of the Toxic Hell is shaped very similar to that of a snake, including the maw, eyes and structure. It uses its tongue to detect heat signatures in the dark, as its eyes poorly adjust to the night. There is also a beautiful, flexible crest on its head which it uses to display emotions, attract its mate and intimidate. The crest is made purely out of feathers. It has a long body with short legs, which had been devolving over hundreds of years. This also caused the claws to not be seperate in color, as no horn material is being developed. Its large, feathered wings are similarly colored to the crest. At its hindlegs, the Toxic Hell as another pair of wings, although much smaller. Its long, flexible tail also hosts a plumage of feathers at the end which it can use to manuver itself in the air. The scales of the Toxic Hell usually possess a pattern of some kind, going from stripes to circles.
Typical Behaviour: These dragons act catious in the many things they do, as they fear the more aggressive dragons. They rarely travel in pacts, and are left alone from birth to venture the world on their own. When confronted, they'll put up their best act of aggression, trying to outscream and outsize whoever came too near to them. When cornered, they'll gladly use their lethal venom to dispose of the threat. However, they always seek to rather run away than actually attack. Most of their time is spend on fixing their plumage, or guarding whatever spot they have currently declared 'home'.
When someone manages to warm the rather timid dragon up to the idea of companionship, Toxic Hells become very physical friends, and will barely leave said friend alone. With less things to worry about when in a group, they'll begin to show personality. Which includes their vanity, pride and love of attention.
Abilities: Equipped with a dangerous venom breath, this serpent is able to defeat foes larger and more protected than itself. The corosive liquid can be fired like a liquid fire, much akin to a Monstrous Nightmare, or expunged as a mist. The more concentrated, liquid form, is able to eat its way through metals, corroding it untill its gone. Whilst the mist is incapable of doing that, it is still enough to blind unsuspecting victims, and cause severe burns upon contact. The venom gradually recovers.
The powerful muscles in its body, and the flexibility of its spine allows the Toxic Hell to coil itself around its victim, constricting it to death. Barely anything can escape the horrific grip, and those that do are usually bitten. The weaker, although potent, venom in the fangs causes nerve damage, which forces the victim to soon be paralyzed on the ground, if not dead.
The many wings and feathers on this dragon allow it to gently and rather silenly glide across the skies. The sky is where it shines in speed, as its powerful wings are able to propell it with ease through the air. When all of its feathers are brought out fully, there is practically no curve it can't take.
With all of its wings, and the crest on its head, it is able to make itself look much larger than it actually is, intimidating its foes. It uses this ability to avoid confrontration.
Being the wienerdog of dragons, it has short legs and a long body, which makes it walk closer to the ground. Evolution gave it strong muscles along its stomach, which allows it to slither across the floor, making less noise. However, as it still is evolving, this process isn't perfect. It has less issues when going across wet or straight surfaces.
Over generations the dragons begin to change their colors, more suited to the environment they live in. They do not suddenly change colors - it is a slow process. It takes a few generations of Toxic Hells to be heavily camouflaged.
Drawbacks: Its short legs disallow the Toxic Hell of approaching someone on the ground without doing a rather goofy run. This clumsy way of getting around makes it easily heard and seen, once it chooses to use its legs. When excited or nervous, they'll grow too impatient to slither and sneak.
Although they can have pretty colorations, their protection suffers greatly under that. Their small, thin scales give them poor protection, making them susceptible to injury. If their feathers are severely burned, they become incapable of flying - the same case if they fall into a body of water.
They are very dependant on their venom to protect themselves. It is their greatest strength, and greatest weakness at the same time. With their poor jaw strength, devolved claws and rather harmless tail, they'd be overwhelmed easily. The only thing they can do in such a situation is to flee.
Training Methods: Although it doesn't need to eat as often as other dragons, this dragon enjoys having brought its food to it. The less danger it needs to encounter, the better. Approach without weapons, as this cautious dragon won't try its luck to see if the intruder is friendly or not. Once it grows used to the viking, the dragon enjoys having its plumage sorted, and shows its rather friendly side. It enjoys physical contact especially around the head, and at its gums.
Habitat: Toxic Hells live on islands inhabitated by animals, as fishing is a great danger to them. They prefer to wander across the island they've been born on, with no set territory in mind. This makes the species rarely wander on other islands, which has caused the more familiar Berk to be left without its own stock of venom breathing monsters.
Diet: Animals like rabbits, birds, boars. They'll also gladly eat fish and man-made bread. However, the consumption of bread is not considered healthy.
