The Sprinter
Physical Description:
A bit smaller than a Deadly Nadder, the Sprinter is usually seen on all fours; it may stay on it’s two large footed clawed hind legs when it feels threatened, leaving it’s two long clawed front legs to attack at things. The slim, almost bird like body of this dragon is always black, including the crown of six horns and a crest of feathers. Females of the species are on-average slightly larger than their male counterparts. The muzzle of this dragon is more slim and beak-like.
The wings of the Sprinter are very peculiar; the front half of the wing is gradient feathers, while the back of the wing is webbed, the same color as the lightest colored feathers. This dragon has short, soft feathers the color of the lightest feathers on it's wings, as well as the large plume on the tip of its tail and joints.
The top half of the body is a lighter shade of black, while the stomach, belly, and up the neck is pitch black scales. It can be any color of the rainbow, but it always gradients from one color to two paler colors, but it’s main body is always black.

Jaw Strength: 5

Typical Behaviour:
The Sprinter is a curious creature, and isn’t afraid of much, as it can usually speed away if it senses any danger. Humans especially interest them, with their strange nests and different ways of living. It isn’t rare to see a beady glowing eye peering at you from the bushes, watching your every move. But if you get to close, it’ll speed off.
The Sprinter usually is alone, aside from when its breeding season, then it will seek out others of its kind. But if there is another Sprinter in its territory, it’s not afraid to try and scare to crap out of the other creature and attack it, as they can be sneaky creatures when they want to be.
If the Sprinter feels threatened, or if you’ve trapped one and it hisses at you that is a warning to back off. If you don’t back off, or do something to calm it, it will attack with claws and then fire power.
The Sprinter loves… eels! Unlike other dragons, this dragon loves eels. This dragon likes to usually eat other small creatures, like boars, rabbits, weasels and sometimes fish when in a pickle. But if it can get a hold of an eel, it gets playful; tossing it in the air and pushing it with its beak like muzzle before devouring it.
To get the attention of the Sprinter isn’t very hard; it loves shiny human items, and is very protective of what they declare theirs, be it an object or a human. This creature is very intelligent, to the point it can learn to understand human speech.
Abilities:
The Sprinter has sharp claws that can slice through armor, so be careful not to get it too agitated. They sharpen their claws on rocks as you would do if you were sharpening a knife. They like to have their claws sharp at all times, as they use them for protection and for tearing their food apart.
These beasts are fast on the ground compared to most dragons their size. Thanks to their large claws digging into the dirt, it helps them push forward and speed on. They need this speed as well, to chase prey, and escape from danger.
What you have to worry about is their lightning breath. It can spit out large balls of lightning at rapid fire. They can shoot out ten shots; usually five rapid shots, then five more with more time between the shots.
Drawbacks:
Since the Sprinter is so large, it can only sprint for a short while. It can jog for a very long period of time, but sprinting takes a lot of energy out of this big dragon.
Unlike most dragons who can just take off into the air, the Sprinter has to have a running start to get off the ground, and comes to a running stop as well. So If you’re looking for a quick escape into the air, this isn’t the dragon for you.
Let’s hope your dragon rider is light! Though the Sprinter is a large creature, it can't carry that much weight as its leg bones are hollow, just like a birds. If your dragon rider is too heavy, the Dark Sprinter will let them know by sliding them off by rearing on its hind legs gently. Don’t fight it, as you might hurt your dragon.
After the Sprinter uses its large balls of lightning to attack, it needs to take a rest up for about ten minutes before they can use it again.
Training Methods:
Shiny objects are a dragon trainers best friend for this situation. If the item is something the dragon can grip and you teach the dragon how to use it, bonus points for you. They love to learn new things.
Also, eels. Eels are the go to treat for this dragon. But use them sparingly! If this dragon has too many eels, they get used to it and they will misbehave even if you gave them a special treat. Besides, special treats aren’t special if they’re used all the time.
Singing also pleases these dragons. As they understand human language, soft, short songs are perfect to start out with. They may enjoy the sound of your voice, or maybe it’s the lyrics. But whatever it is they like singing.
As these dragons are very independent hunters, bringing them food other than eels might insult them. Making them seem incompetent in feeding themselves is a big step backwards for any dragon trainer. Let them bring the food to you.
Habitat:
These big guys can live almost anywhere there is food and coverage. Places that have greenery that they can nest and hide in is a plus to the Sprinter.
As they have many eggs at once, they are not a rare breed of dragon. The mother will leave them as soon as they are able to walk. After that, the babies wander off on their own.
As they need a little amount of food, if an place has a small amount of food, they still feel okay nesting there. They are very independent, and finding food for themselves makes them feel proud.
Diet:
The Sprinters eat rabbits, weasels, boars, and love eels. They will eat fish and sometimes they will eat human food like vegetables, but usually that makes them sick and they’ll just heave it back up.
