NAME: Eímhir Sveinsdóttir
AGE: 16
OCCUPATION: Eímhir is a Viking in Training. One of her favorite hobbies is to observe dragons in the wild and draw them in one of her books.
GENDER & SEXUALITY: Female and asexual
LIKES: The interests of Eímhir are quite peaceful. She likes drawing, especially when the subject is a dragon. She has a strong preference for the tidal dragon class, but will learn about any specie with great pleasure.
Eímhir is the winter type of person; she enjoys playing in the snow and usually tries to get a good look at the stars during the frosty evenings with a clear sky. Overall, the teenager enjoys anything that has relaxing features, except children. Somehow, those little tornadoes easily find the path to her heart (and by the same occasion, grasp her entire attention).
DISLIKES: Being quite a pacifist, Eímhir hates to be in presence of arguments and fights; she'll try to avoid them as much as possible, even if it means quieting her opinion and preferences. Her proudness also makes the teenager dislike to be corrected or told that she is doing something the wrong way and should change her behaviour (which doesn't mean she won't listen).
Eímhir greatly dislike summer and the warmth it brings, because she easily overheats and becomes nauseous, under those circumstances. Speaking of nausea, the viking in training has a hard time dealing with blood and raw meat.
STRENGTHS: Having a great passion for dragon and facts about them, Eímhir is good at learning different facts and applying her knowledge of dragons. This passion has enabled her to start learning dragonese. The language is perhaps a bit slow and colored with a Norse accent, when she speaks, but she'll manage to speak fluently eventually.
The teenager has also a talent when it comes to deal with either children or touchy subjects. In those two scenarios, she'll adapt her attitude to the situation and try to make the best of it.
Eímhir's stubborness is perhaps the element that links all her strengths; it enables her to get through most matters without giving up. Whenever she wants to do something, she fights for it and usually goes the distance without a second thought, if she can help.
WEAKNESSES: Let's start with her last strength, because it is one hell of a weakness; Eímhir is often too stubborn for her own good and ends up injuring herself or putting her health on the sidelines. Luckily the worst doesn't tend to happen, but it can be quite annoying, for her friends, to see her behave in such ways.
Strangely enough, the viking in training is not so good at interacting with authority figures and other teenagers of her age. Standing on the quiet side, she observes and frequently mutes herself, during discussions.
Preferring to stand on the calm side of life, Eímhir clearly lacks endurance and fighting skills. Although she might say that she'll part in a fight and help out, hope the conflict will never come, because she's far from being reliable in those situations.
Be careful around this young viking for she'll easily take any offense personal. It might never be mentioned, but she's easily hurt.
FEARS: Fears come at different times and are hard to remember out of the blue, but for Eímhir, there is constant underlying fear of attracting negative attention. As mentioned earlier, she can't have proper interactions with figures of authority without stressing out; which probably doesn't help at all.
Another fear of hers is the one of not being up for the task, especially if it is of great importance and no one else would be able to fulfill it.
Eímhir's preference of the tidal class dragons finds a part of its origin in the viking's great fear of fire. Luckily enough, she is not afraid of controlled camp fires and torches, at time, but buildings catching fire and torches lit at the wrong time and places send the girl in shaking fits.
At last, the reason why Eímhir makes sure to never get too far from home, is because she fears that she might get lost and never find her way back.
AMBITIONS: Always walking on the sidelines has taught the viking girl to never aim to high, which makes most of her ambitions quite small. Eímhir hopes to one day be able to make her own version of a book of dragons, in which she presents more completely the dragons of the tidal class; finding a new specie would be even more amazing.
Becoming fluent in dragonese would be one of her greatest achievements ever!
At last, Eímhir hopes to one day find a proper riding dragon with which she'll develop a good relationship that would last until the grave. Perhaps making a good friend on whom she could rely, without feeling troublesome could also count as a secret ambition.
SECRETS: She is convinced that she would never be able to train a riding sized dragon.
She tries to keep to herself her fear of getting lost because it could encourage others to make her lose her path.
Her current confident is her terrible terror, Moln.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: Eímhir is not on the really social side, as the description above presents. She is quite secretive, although she listens to others a lot and tends to stick around when people seem to be discussing important matters.
Although quiet, this young viking girl is quite passionate, and it shows. Whenever she starts talking about the different types of dragons and their recorded data, Eímhir's eyes light up and she starts paying far more attention to the subject. Suddenly, her entire shyness and hesitations seem to disappear. Unfortunately, this mood doesn't tend to last more than 20 minutes.
Other than those basic elements, the viking in training is really caring and quickly becomes loyal to anyone who befriends her. Once friendship is built, it's hard to make Eímhir upset or leave, she'll always try to keep her friends.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Time for the physical appearance, the part where it's easy to wonder if Scots blood might have been added to Eímhir's DNA. Although the common colours seen in viking hair, on Berk, stand around the brown and blond shades, the viking in training's hair is goes in the auburn-red lines and her skin follows the stereotype's color; it is quite pale. Eímhir wears her hear at waist length and mostly loose; the only braided strands are on top of her head and purposeless, except for style. Of course, being a Viking and spending a handful of time outside, the girl's skin has grown somewhat tanned through the years and can be compared to the average Berkian shade easily. The girl's cheeks and nose are covered with freckles, which makes the green coloration of her eyes more obvious.
As for the physical appearance, Eímhir doesn't stand out much. Average height, average size, average just about everything; great when you want to disappear in the crowd.
Extremely sensible to the sun, at least compared to the average, she has learnt to wear long sleeves as often as the weather permits. Hence, it is frequent to see Eímhir wearing a long greenish sleeved tunic, that almost turns into a dress that reaches mid-tight and basic dark brown pants. On top of this simple attire, she wears a really short fur coat that reaches her waist and holds a hood, really comfy in winter.
HISTORY:
Every story has a start and for Eímhir, it can be found in the middle of devastating winter, 16 years ago. What a choice, eh? Overall, it was a completely normal day for the season; the sun had yet to start shinning and the storm had died for a few hours, nothing alarming nor dangerous. The child was born before the first rays of light hit the land and the snowstorm resettled by sundown only. This was the start of an uneventful 4 years for a family of two parents and an only child. During those four years, Eímhir's life was cared for by a loving Dragonese-speaking and stay-home mother and a heavy working father, of the saddle making profession. To bring more life in this little household, the parents both counted a Terrible Terror of their own, excellent when it comes to message the villagers regarding their orders and such.
Since the first paragraph foreshadows it, those four years eventually came to an end and Eímhir's life changed. Indeed, in the middle of the day, while her father, Oldrik, was at the forge, daughter and mother found themselves alone at home with a baby underway. This time, the baby's growth wasn't going well and Eímhir's mother became quite sick. Lacking the food nutriments she needed and becoming unable to care for herself, the woman soon relied on her husband and daughter for food, water and just about anything else. On that life changing day, little is known of what truly occurred. All that is known is that in the beginning of the afternoon, the building exploded in bursting flames, taking over one room after another. Vikings quickly ran to the building with water, to extinguish the fire, but the damage was done. Eímhir was found outside, surrounded by the two terrible terrors, crying and screaming in fear. In the child's hands was held a book written by her mother, a basic dictionary of Norse to Dragonese that they were reading together a few minutes before.
No need to add that the child's mother perished in the flames, I presume.
The lost of his wife broke Oldrik at his core. After that day, he became terribly afraid of loosing his daughter, last memento of his dearly beloved wife, and started bringing her everywhere he went; which mostly meant, at work. For the long afternoons of the following years, Eímhir could only be found in one of the corner of the forge with her mother's terrible terror, Moln. Reading the Dragonese book and trying to discuss with the dragon, was the morning class and, in the afternoon, the child would be studying the book of dragons. Strangely enough, the viking progressively built a liking for the tidal class dragons, during those years. The water dragons that could not cause the harm fire ones would. One could believe that the forced proximity of the forge, between father and daughter, would encourage interaction and a better relationship, but Oldrik is one busy man, so it never really occurred. Leaving the child to herself built and important distance between the two family members and led Eímhir to her daily isolation.
When the child reached the age of the 10, and after 6 years of living in the forget, Moln grew tired of doing nothing of her afternoons. Her human understanding quite reasonably Dragonese, the terrible terror took one of her most tempting voices and encouraged her to sneak out of the building. Don't you want to see the world outside, child? You could see actual dragons, not machinery and boring adults. Of course, the trickery worked and for the next 3 years, Eímhir found shelter in the nearby woods. Leaving soon after lunch, the girl would escape through a hole in the wall and come back an hour before dinner, when his father would finish his day. Oddly enough, no one ever really noticed.
At last, Eímhir reached the age of 13, the wonderful age at which the children of Berk are registered at the dragon training academy, where they are bound to learn more about their culture and how to take proper care of dragons. The change in daily schedule greatly influenced the girl's daily life. Now bound to see other children her age everyday, Eímhir began placing her attention on her studies and the observation of other vikings her age. Somehow finding a certain fascination in the different interaction types between the individuals, it became frequent to find the girl listening to conversations, even if they had nothing to do with her. Another pass time that started building on the daily basis of the viking was to play with the children of the village. Filled with life and running around at any time of the day, they became a source of comfort for the child.
Three years went by and Eímhir reached the age of 16, age that would mark her last year of training and the quick approach of her final exam. Through those three years, Oldrik became even more distant, only crossing path with his daughter around dinner time, not like it bothered the girl anymore at this point. The one true thing that bothered the viking was to see her classmates progressively find themselves riding dragons and train them themselves, while she was only the guardian of a terrible terror inherited from her mother. Doubt started growing the teenager's mind; perhaps I'm simply not meant to have a riding dragon, I mean I haven't bounded with one yet. But not all her classmates own a dragon yet, so perhaps is it only a matter of time.
Who knows?
FAMILY: When it comes to family, Eímhir is quite limited; she doesn't have much to extend on. Through the years, quickly loosing her mother made it impossible to have any siblings whatsoever. Therefore, life at home is a tad boring, a father that grew perhaps too distant and two terrible terrors.
WEAPON OF CHOICE: Average stereotyped double headed axe.
FIGHTING STYLE:
Eímhir's fighting style is quite clumsy and lacks any proper organization. In fact, it is hard to say that there is any fighting style in there. She tries to stay close to coverage, may it be granted by trees, walls or others, because she has a hard time covering her back. When the fight becomes serious, Eímhir turns more into a distraction than an actual opponent. This means, that she ducks and twists a lost, trying to escape blows, instead of actually hitting.
DRAGON (optional):
NAME: Moln
GENDER:
Female
TYPE: Terrible Terror
APPEARANCE: Moln is a turquoise dragon of average size, for a Terrible Terror. Her spikes are of a dark blue shade. The only out of the ordinary feature of the tiny dragon is a prominent vein in her right wing that creates the effect of a tree shaped tattoo. Well, that's how Eímhir interprets it, the majority probably wouldn't.
PERSONALITY: Mold is a small dragon with loads of personality. Although she can be considered as really loyal to her owner, she loves to complain and make a huge story of just about anything that displeases her. This means that whenever the weather is too cold or wet, she will ask to stay in bed, where its warm and comfortable. Thankfully, her loyalty forces her to follow her owner, once the complaining is over. Whenever she is required to fulfill a task, she remains quite focused and is hard to bring offtrack.
STRENGTHS: Really loyal; she always comes back to her owner, even if the situation seems desperate. She also memorizes names easily, which enables her to deliver messages, if need be.
WEAKNESSES:
Mold is extremely whinny; whenever she doesn't like something, she lets the others know.
