Name: Red Rock (Capital) / Red Rock Empire
Current Leader: Averia Iovia
Notable leaders:
Deorsa Dubh: Typically known as 'The Tyrant of the Rock', Deorsa was the third and last monarchical leader before he was overthrown in the Red Rock Civil War. The only notable thing he did for the people, that was positive, was build the Dubh Cathedral in the western end of the city. It has since been renamed to The Cathedral of Vala, in honour of one of the most notable people of the civil war.
Mariam Knoll: Mariam was the first elected female leader in Red Rock.
Location: The capital is located in Perthshire, Scotland.
Allies: Ireland / England / Portugal / A number of Germanic Prince States (Bavaria, Bohemia, Austria, Saxony)
Size & Geography: Empire sized - The capital itself sits on the coast of the Perthshire region, surrounded by vast fields that end with mountains kilometers away from the city edge. The rest of the empire varies in geography.
History: Red Rock was founded by survivors from hundreds of years ago, linked back to the old roman empire as some will say. The original Red Rockers, known as Vittanitians deriving from their old home land, were ran out from their original location further south by rampant dragons. It is still unknown as to why the dragons were so aggressive to the people, but the most speculated idea was that they were encroaching on dragon territory, causing the retaliations. Never the less, the people were forced northward.
Where the capital lies now is where the Vittanitians had first settled down, thousands of people had been exiled from their homes and now settled on the coast line far north. During the time of then to the present day, Red Rock had grown in size, strength and wealth. They were more than they could of ever had hoped for, and it far exceeded what many people had expected in the beginning.
Red Rock is riddled with trivial issues here and there. But some of the more notable points in the empires history was the Civil War, and conflicts with other large powers farther away. The largely militaristic nation coupled with its culture and economic strengths have helped to keep Red Rock running the way it has for centuries, and will continue along that same path for many more.
Current Status: Very Strong overall. City-wise, strong.
Traditions & Pastimes:
In the capital, traditions and pastimes vary greatly. Red Rock has a large variety of minority groups, each putting on their own form of a festival at some point during the year. But some of the general ones are such.
Midsummers Festival : A festival that celebrates the joys of summer in the middle months of July and August. The festival goes on for about a week, two if the supplies don't run out too quickly.
Christian and Nordic religious holidays: Red Rock has become attuned to its northern lands, learning from the people that reside there and adopting different cultural values. The primary religious of Red Rock is Christianity due in part to their history, but the influence of Nordic religions is prevalent. Many people outside of the city itself practice the Nordic religions while those within the city practice Christian ways.
Outside of the Isles things vary greatly.
Typical Occupations: Within the city of Red rock, occupations vary and contrast very different from within the city and outside. In the country, many people take to farming or livestock related lifestyles. Within the walls, the most popular choice would be to be apart of the military as many see it as a stable life. But others jobs include artisans of all sorts, family ran businesses selling imported and local goods, and shipbuilding jobs. Politicians are in no small shortage either.
Typical Clothing: In contrast to the clothing found on Berk, Red Rock typically has light sets of clothes, but due to their northern environment they do tend to bulk up during the winter months. Clothing of different variations of wool and cloth are found in layers during the winter months, but those layers are shed back to only a single layer during the summer months.
Preferred Transport: On land the preferred transports is by horseback or horse and carriage. On the seas it varies from use to use, but many prefer to travel aboard early styled galleons. Some use dragon-back for air travel, but this is normally a military usage.
