Name: Outcast Island
Leader: Kerstin the Ruthless Blade
Siegrund the Deepsea Terror (deceased)
Notable Leaders: Bargström the Thief, first leader of the outcasts.
Bargström III the Prosperous Menace. He changed the face of the outcasts to what they are known today.
Location: North of Berk
Size + Geography: Size around like Berk, consists of two islands, one main land and one other, smaller island
Native/Common Dragons: Found Dragons are very similiar to Berk, due to its close location.
History: A long time ago, Outcast Island had been devoid of vikings, only hosting dragons and other flora and fauna. This changed when the settlements of vikings around the island picked this spot as a far off exile, for all those they deemed unworthy to reside in their villages. Thiefs, murderes-- criminals that needed to be punished. All of them were sent to this small island, left to fend for themselves. And fend for themselves they did.
The outsiders came together, created a new village, and began surviving together. This all happened thanks to their great leader, Bargström the Thief. His silver tongue and his battle prowess allowed him to bring the other outsiders under his command. Whilst in the early phase of their history there were battles over dominance, Bargström always managed to come out on top somehow. The Outsider Village soon began blooming under an unholy star, as houses appeared on the previously wild and untamed island.
The anger and hatred these vikings felt to their previous homes drove these people to prepare for war. The weapons they prepared were improved again and again, their armor strengthened by the rich ores they could find within the mountains. Their souls, steeled and bitter, endured any danger they faced in these wild landscapes in the ill hope of vengeance. Dragons butchered them and their homes, hunger and thirst broke them during the harsh, brutal winters; and yet, these vikings came out stronger and more bitter out on top. Those that survived these harsh first years were the prime of warriors, their spirits cold and prepared for battle.
As peace broke upon dragons and vikins thanks to Hiccup's deeds, the cold Outsiders saw more and more Dragon Riders fly past their island, allowing them to catch a glimpse of the bond a dragon and human could have. They were mesmerized; not because of the bond, but because of the opperunity to tame dragons. Soon, they wandered into the wild, and began capturing dragons. Their forces increased.
Change was however inevitable. As the first generation of Outsiders died, so did that bitter hatred they had carried with them. Although their children knew of their parent's past, their influence began gradually leaving them through the generations. They didn't have anything to do with their parent's past deeds, and so, some had trouble joining in the hatred they had been taught. It was ultimately their third leader, Bargström III, that broke their ties to their past by sending out delcarations of peace to the surrounding villages before the war had even begun. However, with their goal suddenly gone, the Outsiders found it hard to continue their work and way of living.
Bargström III had an answer for this aswell. Instead of actively seeking out battles, they could passively wait for one-- by being hired arms. The past hatred of their ancestors could be used as a useful blade, one that could be used against anything and anyone. Their rash, advanced weaponry would be their wellkept secret, their dragons their deadly force.
The face of Outsider Island had changed; now they function as mercenaries, hired arms ready for battle. Their technique with dragons changed aswell, as they no longer held them as feral canons that were to be unleashed, but began befriending them, bonding with them in the process.
Traditions and Pastimes: -- They name themselves differently, always going for more rough and brutal names. The more violent the better.
-- They have a rough, toughest-one-survives culture. Anyone that shows weakness will be beaten untill they become strong.
-- Enlistment in the 'army' is a must. Even if they choose different job paths afterwards, they must all be trained, incase more forces than usual are hired or they face an attack.
-- Weddings are arranged. The strongest, richest and most proved vikings are allowed to create offspring. Those that are mediocre are not, in fear of producing weaklings.
-- The 'Rite of Manhood' is a moment in every viking's life (usually started at the tender age of 13) where the viking is sent out and away from the village. They are to then come back after some time, bringing back a trophy. The longer they stay away, the more they are respected. Similiarly, if they bring back a great trophy, they are much more respected aswell.
