Catastrophic Quaken
Physical Description: Quakens are dragons of impressive stature, their bulk is more than twice that of a Gronkle, a dragon they are very closely related to. One of a Quakens most noticable features its its jaw, the lower section of which splits down the middle allowing them to open it into three parts for a devestating bite radius. Quakens also have a very thick thorny hide and bulbouse tail that they often use to crush huge rocks into more managable mouthfulls. A Quakens wings are much larger in proportion to their body than their Gronkle cousins giving them a more typical method of flight and a higher maximum speed, though less ability to turn on the spot the way Gronkles can. A Quakens hide is very resiliant especially with it curls up and even a Night Furies attacks barely stall it when its protecting itself.
Typical Behaviour: Quakens are very defensive and can seem incredibly hostile in an attempt to protect themselves but at the heart of this aggression is fear. In truth Quakens want to be social and are very friendly but being solitary are afraid of other dragon species that have the advantage of numbers. Once a Quaken has friends it becomes very warm and generous to them and some inderviduals have been seen looking out for small groups of Gronkles with incredible selflessness.
Abilities:
Quaken can curl themselves into balls with surprising efficiancy, they can even propel themselves at high speed in these balls without needing to unroll. By falling from the air and curling up they also create a powerful shockwave capable of throwing nearby dragons out of the air or off the ground before unfurling almost immediatly to capatalize on this attack. A Quakens breath is a thick magma similar to a Gronkles though it flies in a much more powerful stream.
Shot Limit:
Unknown as it prefers to roll in a ball instead of use fire.
Drawbacks:
Quakens can be a challenge to ride since many of their attacks require forming a ball and rolling. It is advised that other riders be on hand to pluck the Quakens rider from the saddle in case it decides to drop abruptly. Its rolling attacks can be just as dangerous though a rider can be held to the Quakens stomach to keep them at the centre of the motion, though this is still potentially fatal to dragon and rider since the Quaken can't tell where its going.
Blindspot: Rear and direct sides.
Training Methods: Getting through a Quakens emotional defences can be an incredible challenge and until that is achieved their hostility prevents any safe interaction with them or attempts to train them. Once they truly believe you to be no threat they begin to soften and are much more receptive. At this point you can bring other dragons to them to help them feel included and comforted.
Habitat: Quaken live on rocky islands and carve out lairs in caves and caverns. The area around a Quakens home is often surrounded by deep grooves it dug to help it roll without risking blind crashes.
Diet: Boulders are a Quakens primary source of food just like a Gronkle.
