Faster than the Wind (Fellicya)

Brea shivered slightly from atop Cyclone's back, but was quick to shrug it off. Flying is what the duo loved best, and a little grey clouds and biting winds weren't going to deter them, not one bit.

The coast was definitely a favorite place for Cyclone to stretch his wings, and today was no exception. The only thing was, he and Brea had nothing to do, really. Most of the time when they went flying, Brea would have a certain goal in mind, such as circling through the sculpted rocks or scaling mountains twice their size, but not this time. Cyclone was just flying aimlessly through the coast, causing him to groan in boredom (and slight annoyance).

"Don't be like that, big guy," Brea reassured to the nadder with a cheery smile. "We'll find something to do soon.  Something fun. But let me just think for a sec." With a pondering look, Brea's eyes glanced all over the coast, with everything in sight familiar. But without warning, a strong wind blew straight into them, sending Cyclone back by a bit.

Brea's eyes lit once the nadder recovered. With her snarky grin, she asked, "How about we try flying against the winds, big guy? It ought to be interesting, and maybe your wing strength could grow, who knows?"

At this, Cyclone squawked happily. Though it wasn't the greatest idea, better that than nothing.

"Alright then, its settled. Now let's go!" Once Cyclone heard his rider say "go," he immediately shot off, breathing small bursts of flames in happiness. Finally, something to do!

[Fellicya Strongmouth]

Two hearts race as one in their owner's respective chests.


A dragon and a girl stood on the very edge of one of the numerous cliff at the west coast line of Berk.

After many adjusting, along with the help of Kenna, Fellicya had finally managed to creat the perfect saddle for SwiftBite and now came the time to test it. The Scuttle CLaw was boucing at his rider's side with an excitement barely contained if not at all. He kept chirping when she took too much time making sure everything was secured and safe for his liking and sincerly Fellicya understood him. She chuckled lightly, glancing at the dragon as she tugged on one of the buckles under his belly. "I know, I know. I'm excited too but we can't anything going wrong before taking off." The dragon turned his head to the side to send her a nasty look and she quickly put her hands up in surrender. "I'm not saying you'd risk my life or anything!" Her mocking grin softened to a warmer smile as she rested a hand on SwiftBite's snoot in a loving gesture. "I trust you with my life more than myself." Eyes raising to the side in thought she added with a snicker under her breath. "Not that it's hard to trust ANYONE but myself with my life to begin with..."

She did a quick last check up and then almost threw herself on top of the dragon's back, making him go off balance for a couple of second only because he wasn't steady from the start. "Okay SwiftBite, we're good to go!" He tilted his head to the side, wide and dark pupils almost filling the Yellow of his eyes as they met with Blue eyes, letting the excitement be shared for a couple of minutes before a childlish grin split Fellicya's lips.


"Let's go!"


It was all it took for the dragon to roar loudly and step foreward, bating his wings to prepare himself to fly, and fall.

Both of them hadn't thought about the fact that with this weather the earth on the edges of the cliffs would be shiftier and far weaker and when SwiftBite stepped foreward his weight was too much and the ground slipped from beneath his feets.

Both dragon and rider screamed in surprise that quickly became panic before Fellicya remembered for him that he could fly. "SWIFTBITE, UP!!" And soon her remembered it too.

The dragon immediatly steadied himself, hovering above the water and mostly pointy rocks, taking the time to sigh in relief. "You're the dumbest dragon I ever loved." She pated his neck gently and he chirupped in response, not needing more than that to understand it was time to fly back bove the clouds instead of under the sea. "Let's try a roll okay!"

The Scuttle Claw spread it's wings wide, at their full lengt, before it suddenly took a leap to dash up and straight to the sky. When they reached a certain point he started spinning, incrasing his speed before sticking his wings to his body.

The result was him rocketing upside for a couple second. Fellicya let out an encouraging shout as she pressed closer to her dragon's body, tightening her fists around the handles of the saddle. SwiftBite didn't take a second before emptying his lungs in an happy roar that accompanied his rider's shouts.

At the speed they went, and with the way they were both engrossed into this experience, they failed to notice the Deadly Nadder that flew above us. Fellicya's eyes only widened when the shadow passe above her. "Watch out!!" She pulled on the handles to divert SwiftBite from the way he was currently going, hoping they would be far enough not to crash into the other dragon.

Luckily her effort weren't in vain, she had put enough of her weight and strenght for the Scuttle Claw to only lightly brush close to the Deadly Nadder, disturbing more the air around it than the dragon itself.

Fellicya sighed in relief once more, not able to try and see if the dragon had been hurt because of the speed and positiong of her own dragon. "SwiftBite, slow down." Obeying he spread his wings, quickly straightening himself horizontaly. The spread wings forced him to slow down and allowed Fellicya to finally check on the dragon under us but also it's rider.


"Oh my Thor."


She quickly signaled for SwiftBite to go back to the Dadly Nadder's side and immediatly started apologizing when both dragon and rider came in view. "I'm so sorry, we hadn't seen you. I'm really, really sorry. Are you alright?" She made SwiftBite approach the stranger so she could watch her closer and SwiftBite started sniffing the Deadly Nadder's snout before licking it. "I-I swear I didn't mean to bother you, we slipped and then we went too fast and-and we might have been a little too caught up into the moment and... I'm just-... Sorry, really." She offered a weak smile to the other, rubbing the back of her head as she lowered it in embarassement.

"You're not mad, right?"

Cyclone let out a startled squawk at the scuttleclaw's sudden appearance. Panicked, the nadder flapped his wings viciously, tail pointed towards the latter. From his back, Brea attempted to grip ahold of Cyclone's neck, only to be thrown offside. Luckily, she barely managed to grab onto his legs, now just as panicked as her dragon.

"Calm down, big guy! He's not going to hurt y- WHOA!!" Despite Brea's protests, Cyclone refused to listen, who was now screeching angrily towards the scuttleclaw. Brea let out a low growl of frustration. If he wasn't going to obey, there was only one thing left to do.

With a grunt of effort, Brea managed to pull herself up the nadder's legs and back into the saddle. Once in, she gripped hold of the handles before giving Cyclone a swift kick on his side, followed by a fierce yell. Almost immediately, the nadder settled down, but was staring intently at the scuttleclaw.

"S-Sorry about that," Brea said to the scuttleclaw's rider, guilt spread across her face. "Cyclone's not one for strangers. But even if he seems all surly, he'll lighten up eventually. And don't worry, I'm not all that mad, albeit a bit embarrassed." Brea wasn't going to lie, she probably left a bad first impression with this rider, all because of her deadly nadder's aggression.

From below, Cyclone kept his sight onto the scuttleclaw. Despite the snout licks, he wasn't about to let up so easily. With a black look, he growled in Dragonese, "Do that again, and you can expect me to smash headfirst into you. Got it?"

"...And don't worry, I'm not all that mad, albeit a bit embarrassed."



Fellicya, at the other rider's words, raised her hands, eyes widening in chock and panic as she started blabbing hastily. "Oh, no, no, no. Don't say that." She waved her hands above SwiftBite's head, shaking her own. "It was all my fault I should have been more careful and thoughtful of other riders and dragons! Not to mention that I really didn't take the time to try and see if anyone else was flying with me." She snorted, glancing at the side as she pulled her hands back to her side, rubbing one of her elbows in embarassement. "It's not like the sky belongs to me or something..." She returned her eyes on the other girl, offering a small apologetic smile as she did so. "I'm, really, really, really deeply sorry for the inconvenience."



"Do that again, and you can expect me to smash headfirst into you. Got it?"

SwiftBite on his side was starting to shake his tale excitedly. "New friend want to play pushy-pushy with me?! Me so happy!" Gurgling happily, he flew a bit closer to try and snuggle his head under the other's jaw, the lack of spines allowing it.



Fellicya pated her dragon's shoulder while extanding a hand to the other girl, her signature friendly grin plastered across her face. "I'm Fellicya, it's nice to meet you fellow rider." She looked down at her dragon who was still trying to approach the other so he could show to the Nadder how much he loved his new friend. "And this big baby is SwiftBite."



A small gust of wind distracted SwiftBite for a second, the dragon steadying himself so he wouldn't be carried away. "Oh, driving against the wind heh?" Gears seemed to run fast into the Red head's brain. She taped a finger on her chin, seemingly in deep thought before she  came to a conclusion that had satisfied her. "Right in the morning that sound like quite an exercise..." Fellicya crossed her arms on top of her Scuttle Claw's head, leaning over it to stare defiantly at her new acquaintance, her grin taking a playful edge.



"I know from experience that Deadly Nadders are one of the fastest species around and I bet your dragon is even more so... What do you say about a lil' friendly race?" 

"Race?" SwiftBite's round spine perked up at the mention of race, he snapped his attention away from the Deadly Nadder to start squawking, batting his wings with more force as he wiggled in excitement. "Raaace!!" His reaction made Fellicya chuckle lightly.

"As you can see SwiftBite is all for it..."

"I'm Brea, and this big guy here is Cyclone," Brea introduced, grinning. It was nice to meet another rider, especially one who was just as enthusiastic about dragons.

"A race, you say?" A wry smirk forming across her face. A race could do some good, especially since she and Cyclone were bored out of their skulls seconds before. Little things could get Brea more pumped up than a race alongside a fellow dragon rider. But she needed one more person's okay before. Giggling, she peered down towards Cyclone.

"What do you say, big guy? Do you want to race?"

Cyclone groaned in dismay at the scuttleclaw's playfulness. Of course the baby didn't take the threat seriously, he was too young. He couldn't help but sigh as Swiftbite snuggled with him, looking rather bored.

But at the mention of a race, the nadder let out an excited screech, letting several flames dance about in the air. This was fantastic, that he would be getting more excitement, along with flying against the wind. But this race definitely seemed interesting, considering the young scuttleclaw's happy-go-lucky demeanor. Would he take this race seriously, or be just as carefree? He couldn't help but stare a bit at the baby, now quite curious.

At the nadder's eager response, Brea grinned. "It's official. We're going racing!" Brea couldn't wait to get started, blissfully unaware of Cyclone's staring.

SwiftBite was shaking violently from the pent up energy that was begging to be released. His eyes shifted restlessly between the two human above of him, lingering on their expression to search for the race's confirmation and when it was finally confirmed his attention snapped back on the Deadly Nadder. "We race! We race, me excited!" He started pushing his head against the other's in short but hard nudges, knowing that the Nadder would have a harder time returning the affection. "So excited and happy! Friend happy too right?" His tongue lolled out of his mouth as he started panting like a dog and the little croaks he made craked like the voice of a teenager.

The incrased shaking of the youngling would have thrown any normal human off the Scuttle Claw's back. Thankfully Fellicya wasn't any human she managed to hold on but barely, she was still only human and the contained excitement brought the most agitated behavior out of the dragon.

More agitated than usual that is.

She was sure that if they waited any longer it would become physically painful for SwiftBite to hold back, so who was she to keep him waiting?


"Sweet." The warm and sincer smile Fellicya had been proudly wearing from the start of their conversation suddenly turned grim, all teeth and viciousness, reaching her Blue eyes where the same mischief shined.


She didn't give much of a warning when SwiftBite suddenly dashed past Brea and Cyclone, batting his wings in perfect synchronization as he headed to fly closer to the cliff. He progressively descended so that he could start darting between the rocky bases, shifting and twirling so that he could pass at the last second into the holes that had been created by the waves and time.

The whole time she had made sure to lower herself against SwiftBite's back, staying in a ducking position to follow and accompany each and one of his movement. It was certainly not the time to accidently let go or try anything funny, especially since everything was going so well for now.


Maybe Fellicya was exagerating a bit by starting their little race with those kind of obstacles but she was sure the other girl would be able to handle herself.
She threw a quick glance over her shoulder, trying to spot if Brea was following.


She hoped she was.

Brea chuckled wryly at Fellicya's sudden departure. This wasn't much of a surprise to her, as Brea herself would sometimes pull this trick on other fellow riders. Oh, the irony. But said irony meant more excitement for Brea and Cyclone.

"You want to go?," Brea called ahead. "Well, two can play at that game! HYAH!" With a swift kick to the side, Cyclone shot through the air after the scuttleclaw, like an arrow fired from a bow. From atop the nadder's back, Brea had one hand gripped tightly onto the saddle's handle, the other grasping ahold of the sword at her side.

"This ought to be good," Cyclone grumbled to himself as he circled and twisted through the cliff's crevices. As young as the scuttleclaw was, Cyclone wasn't going to lie, the baby was faster than expected. Nonetheless, Cyclone couldn't let himself get beaten by a baby, especially at what he loved most. With a determined (and slightly competitive) squawk, the nadder continued to flap his wings even harder, slowly catching up to the scuttleclaw.

From above, Brea let out a whoop of excitement. What had started as a run-of-the-mill day was now even better than she'd ever imagined. In the back of her mind, she hoped that things would keep getting more exhilarating from here.

SwiftBite's bubbly behavior quickly turned into confidence, his vicious competitive side being triggered by the squawk that sounded way closer than he thought the other was. This Deadly Nadder was fast, fast enough to easily catch up on him, faster than he had expected and thus earned the right to be concidered a real oponent.

The race just got ten time serious.

Fellicya felt every muscle in her dragon's body tense under her as he took the lead. This was so thrilling, she loved the way her heart beat in her chest with such a strenght it could have burst out at any second. The way the cold in the air bit at her skin where it wasn't covered as the wind blew her hair completly out of her face, strong enough to pull a few loose strand of Red hair free of her braids.


When she heard the whoop of Brea she actually did turn around to beam at the girl, her own bubbling laughter raising in her throat, louder and even more enthusiastic than before. She knew the other was still following and it was all she needed to be reassured.


But when under her SwiftBite pushed his massive paws foreward, claws wide open, the movement shift in his stance warned her and she turned back to look at what he was about to do and immediatly thought about warning Brea. "Watch out, wall straight foreward!"

The movement slightly slowed them down but allowed him to land against a crag facade, using it as leverage to send himself spiraling to his right and into three hole in the cliff's base to finally head out and away from the maze of sharp obstacles.


He had basically made a Ninety degrees turn by using the rock wall so that he would actually have a chance to make it. Above him Fellicya had managed to hold onto him without being too shaken, just as much mentally as physically, even thought he took her by surprise, him and his God forsaken sharp turns.

As SwiftBite sped up above the open sea she could slightly straighten and chance a glance back, still wanting to make sure Brea could follow. At least now there wouldn't be a threat of death hanging above their head if they made any false move.


The Scuttle Claw was more than proud of his little trick even thought he wasn't done showing off. Though if that hadn't slowed the Nadder down he would have to give it to him, he knew how to race.

It had been quite some time since he felt so alive and free. As he grew he became faster and stronger and the competition, the chance to have a run for his money, it all slowly died out.

He was glad he found a real challenge today.

"I won't lose to you!," Cyclone screeched, his mind now fully set on winning the race. After watching Swiftbite expertly twist around a rock wall, Cyclone knew he had to one-up the baby. He continued to flap his wings hard with effort, gaining speed at he and Brea approached the wall.

Brea gripped ahold of the saddle's handles tighter as she got closer to the wall. From the looks of it, Cyclone wasn't about to let up in terms of speed. But Brea wasn't all that surprised, as she loved it. With her free hand, she wrapped her shredded scarf across her mouth, before outstretching her arm in front of her.

"Alright big guy, steady.... steady... NOW!!" Almost immediately, Cyclone shot through the first hole, before gripping ahold of the rock wall with his talons. Not hesitating, the nadder kicked himself off pash the remaining holes, squawking with confidence. Flapping his wings, he and his rider twisted through the spears and jagged rocks protruding from the water.  

Atop Cyclone's back, Brea reached one arm down to graze the water's surface, the nadder tilting his body at a slight angle. It was thrills like this that made Brea feel alive, almost as if she was a dragon herself. After a few seconds of flying, Brea & Cyclone had finally caught up with Swiftbite and Fellicya, who was hovering a good foot above them.

Fellicya looked all around her trying to find where Brea went and started to fill panic tug at her heart when she didn't see her. SwiftBite felt his rider's discomfort but also heard the familiar sound of flapping wings under him. He squawked to get her attention and when he did get it threw his head at the girl and her dragon under them. Once again relief made her sigh as she relaxed once more. "I should start giving her dragon's racing capabilities a little more credit than I've been... He's good." SwiftBite crooned lightly, not really listening but still answering her.

Another devilish idea slowly germinated in her mind. She leaned to the side so that she could get another look at Brea and Cyclone. "Come on boy, I have another idea..." All it took was a light tug on SwiftBite's new saddle and he followed her lead. She made him lower them before spinning so that he would be flying on his back.

And suddenly Brea got a face full of Fellicya's own grinning mug. "Hi there!" SwiftBite did struggle a little to keep the same speed while maintaining this position. He twisted his head to look at Cyclone and squawk happily. "Hi too!"


The Red head burst out laughing but her amusement was short lived. The ScuttleClaw, distracted by the Nadder, lost his balance and started flying too fast to try and steady himself.

They both soon dived full speed into the water in a mess of flailing limbs and screaming mess. When they came out, not without struggling first, they both were disoriented. But SwiftBite was glad to still be 'winning' the race.

Back to Fellicya her expression was horrified, like the one of a cat that took a cold bath. And the way she held her arms up to watch the water drip from her body made her look even more pathetic.

Although Brea was initially startled at Fellicya's head drop, she pulled down her scarf to reveal a smug grin. She wasn't going to lie, Brea had wanted to attempt something like that for a good while, but she'd never really found the courage in order to do. It was probably because of the fact that if Brea fell from that position, she'd end up in a watery grave (and like heck Brea would die like that).

At the baby's greeting, Cyclone shot several bursts of flames towards Swiftbite, now used to the baby. Now that he thought about it, Cyclone wondered if the baby could breath fire at all, before assuming that he couldn't. Not yet at least. But once he learned how to use and control it- the thought of it made Cyclone squawk in surprise.

But all trains of thought were broken at Fellicya's and Swiftbite's rough crash and burn into the sea. Brea gave the nadder below her a gentle kick for him to stop and hover in place.

At first, Brea's gut told her to help Fellicya, but on the outside, she couldn't hold back a snicker. She raised her arm to cover her mouth, hoping to conceal her giggles of amusement. From below, Cyclone's mouth had stretched out to a toothy grin.

But after a good minute, both Cyclone and Brea burst out laughing, the latter falling back against the nadder's tail.

"I'm really sorry! But that was way too funny!"
