Species name:
Duskrazor
Class:
Strike
Physical Description:
Only a similar size to Nightterrors or Smokebreaths Duskrazors are most easily noticed by their large incisors and hooked wings. Their piercing red eyes and the skull like bony growths that surround their heads make them very fearsome and a flock is a terrifying sight for viking settlements. Their colouration is dark shades of blues and greens with thick ivory coverings as if they're wearing their skeletons on the outside. These growths provide useful protection from larger dragons but are specifically used as protection from one another so a flock won't kill one another out of hunger. Duskrazors have a row of sensory pits behind their eyes and are capable of stretching their jaws so wide they can latch down onto almost anything and be very difficult to shake off.
Typical Behaviour:
Duskrazors are aggressive and seem to be perpetually hungry giving them a sour disposition even towards one another. They naturally live in large groups but only for mutual protection and when hunting are only concerned with their own stomachs.
Abilities:
Duskrazors can see heat using their sensory pits making it easier for them to find warm blooded prey. Once they've bitten a victim they begin injecting a venom that makes the victims heart beat quicker causing lightheadedness and providing the Duskrazor with more blood flowing to the wound quicker. It also makes the victims body heat rise making them a more obvious target and causing more Duskrazors to try and latch on. Duskrazors are fast and agile making an entire flock hard to hit and easy to move in close.
Shot Limit:
Duskrazors fire six shots of thick adhesive syrup like bile to encase parts of their target and stop them from escaping or fighting back letting the dragons latch on and feed.
Drawbacks:
Duskrazors are small by dragon standards, not nearly big enough to ride and only just capable of lifting a human. They hate bright lights as it interferes with their heat senses and blinds them. A Duskrazors cry is distinctly shrill and they usually announce themselves when they attack preferring their prey to be scattering than sneaking up on it. Duskrazors tend to feed until they're bloated and become very lethargic when full.
Blind spot:
Duskrazors forward facing eyes mean they can't see behind them.
Training Methods:
No one has really tried to train a Duskrazor and its debated whether or not its possible. Their diet and aggression make them difficult to get close to without hostility.
Habitat: Duskrazors live in caves and thick forested areas, anywhere they can nest in the dark during the daylight.
Diet:
While they are always quick to gulp down raw meat these dragons live primarily on blood and need to drink at least two litres every night. When desperate these dragons have been seen biting trees to drain sap but this is only a temporary measure and Duskrazors will starve if only fed this way. Their most common victims are large prey like yaks and other dragons but they will attack almost any warm blooded creature and leave almost nothing behind, humans aren't preferred prey but a hungry Duskrazor won't complain.
