[OOC - In my absence, my inner sadist has grown. I need to torture my babies >]
For the life of her, Starkad would never understand how humans worked. One minute, they'd be angry and loud, but the next, be sad and whimpering. She found that many of the vikings followed this pattern, and Jokul was no exception.
It'd started like any other day too. She woke up first due to her brother's snoring, and proceeded to gnaw on his headboard. Except, as the day went on, Starkad noticed a... shift in the air around Jokul. Normally, she'd chalk it up to his everyday annoyance with her, but... he just stared to ignore her.
He'd scold her, berate her, grumble at the ground, but he never flat out pretended she wasn't there. In fact, it was almost like he was doing that to everyone. Shade seemed to have noticed it too because she kept giving him looks out of the corner of her eyes. The older hobblegrunt still treated him as one of her own hatchlings, and she'd be killed before she'd let anything happen to her babies.
Unfortunately, Kari needed her dragon's assistance for the day to cart around leather and old clothing, so Shade put it on her daughter's shoulders to watch him. In hindsight, that might've not been the best idea. Because for a two year old dragon, trying to keep her rider's emotions in check was a disaster ready to happen, especially if said viking was lashing out at everything that spoke to him.
When the day brought the dragon and rider to the stables, Starkad was getting anxious. Jokul had yet to say anything to her even once. She couldn't stop hopping from foot to foot, trying to get him to notice her.
"Big brother! I wanna play with the yakky yaks!" His reaction worried the little dragon further. He always showed annoyance at the nickname but this time, he just waved her off.
[OOC - Stilllll working on this. It's going to end with someone needing to cheer up Mr. Grumpy-puss ^_^]
