Kenna could feel Ylva’s worries about how she could pay her back. Kenna gave her a comforting look and gently rubbed on her hand against the girl’s shoulder, “Provided you want to pay me back you try to, you’ll end up doing enough. And anyway, after years of no human contact, there’s no way I couldn’t help you with your assimilation.”
Kenna’s face lit up a bit when the young girl reacted to her room with such awe. “Thanks, the weapons are pretty much entirely basic stock I’m going to be selling at some point. Everything else is stuff I’ve been tinkering with on and off, time pieces, more practical prosthetics, couple toys, and a few contraptions which would one day be used as either traps or pranks.”
The blacksmith smirked when Ylva presented one of her tinker projects from a while ago, “I’d forgotten about that thing. I was once told about a siege weapon used far to the south-east by an Arab merchant.” She gently took it from Ylva’s hands and looked around, “I believe he referred to it as a Springuard. It’s design is similar to that of a ballista, which you probably saw your brother work on at some point, but as you can see the arms are inward swinging rather than outward,” she pulled the string connected to each arm to show what she meant.
“The way the merchant had described it made me want to try and make it myself…but I didn’t have any designs for myself so I had to do a lot of guess work and trial and error. Mostly error.” Kenna carefully placed it down on the floor out the way, “Right now it’s not functional and in the end I decided to move onto more useful things. On berk siege weapons aren’t exactly useful, we have no places to conquer and if we did they wouldn’t be fortified.”
Kenna was surprised how clear the bed had already gotten, she’d thought it would take forever to move it all, but then she expected to only have one pair of hands doing it originally. Kenna picked up a couple more items and started taking them to the other room; the floor wasn’t really a practical place to put what was left on the bed, “Once we’re done with this, you want to help me out with some blacksmithing? I can show you the ropes of what I do, and it’s always invaluable to have a second pair of hands, no matter their experience level.”
(OOC: An actual ballista would have been to commonplace for me to have had that be a model of so I thought I'd use a different seige weapon )
